I quickly learned that hard work pays well and with hard work advancement comes quickly. Within five years I was a licensed roofing contractor and the proud owner of Esser Roofing Company in San Clemente, California. For personal reasons, Esser Roofing was sold for profit in 1981. During a year of soul searching I formulated the business concept of “roof management”. The idea being that an experie
nced roofing tradesman could sell his experience by assuming responsibility for the proper care of a client’s roof(s). The innovative concept took the roofing industry by storm and the significance of preventive roof maintenance became a sub-industry. Over the next thirty-five years, Commercial Roof Management, Inc. (CRMI) has evolved into the industry leader in roof management concepts and their implementation. With seven offices in five western states CRMI established the standards for professional roof care. Following the LA/Northridge earthquake in 1994, CRMI consultants were called upon to assess property damage on a large scale. Rather than take away from existing roof management clients, Esser & Associates was formed as the “expert” extension of Commercial Roof Management, Inc. Fast forward to 2008 when I was first introduced to Joe Novoa, Director of Construction Services with the Diocese of Orange, California. Over the past 8 years, Esser & Associates has completed roofing/waterproofing related assignments of 75% of the Diocese Parishes. Services include roof surveys new construction peer review, re-roofing specification development, bid solicitation, in-progress application inspections, budget analysis, water intrusion investigations, contractor interviews &negotiations, etc. While I am a licensed C-39 contractor ( #316362) with over 40-years’ experience and expertise, Esser & Associates does not perform roofing installations or repairs. Nor do we sell materials or products. What we sell is experience and we include integrity at no additional cost!
