Installing Air-Release Valves

As our Tazewell Water main project is nearing the finish line, we are installing some ARV’s where they are needed.

💧 Air Release Valves (ARVs)

* Releases trapped air from water mains.
* Prevents air pockets that can restrict water flow.
* Helps prevent water hammer and pressure fluctuations.
* Allows water mains to fill properly during startup.
* Protects the pipe from damaging vacuum conditions.
* Typically installed at high points in the water main.

Properly installed ARVs help keep water systems flowing efficiently and protect the integrity of the main.

These are especially important in the constantly changing terrain of East Tennessee!

Gate valve replacement on a 4” sewer force main.

The old gate valve had seized up, leaving our customer unable to isolate portions of their system in the event of an emergency.

We were happy to help by excavating down to the main line and cutting out the old valve. We then installed a brand-new gate valve, restoring the customer’s ability to properly isolate their system when needed.

Emergency sewer blockage at a residence today.

We got a call this morning as we were en route to another job, that sewer was backing up in this home. Once we excavated and opened the septic we found the influent was completely plugged with hard grease. Within minutes we had the grease freed up and the line clear and flowing as it should.
Couldn’t get a pump truck out on such short notice, but we installed a riser for ease of access to pump later.

It’s been a very busy week on our Claiborne Water main project. We wrapped up our last round of road patching and are in the homestretch of this project.

When we started, this project had 22,255 Linear feet of mainline, we have installed over 20,000 feet in the past 3 months!
