**Major Sewer Line Replacement — Here's What We Did**
A residential customer in Danville, VA contacted Roto-Rooter after deteriorated cast iron sewer piping left them with no choice but full excavation. This was a large-scale project — our team removed approximately 80 feet of basement concrete and 50 feet of driveway asphalt to gain access to the failed sewer line. The interior portion was excavated by hand, and equipment was brought in to expose the line running beneath the driveway.
Once uncovered, we removed the failed cast iron sewer main along with the laundry and kitchen drain lines — all beyond saving. In their place, we installed a new Schedule 40 PVC sewer main complete with a two-way directional cleanout, traffic-rated cover, proper bedding, and tracer wire. The interior trench was backfilled and concrete restored to rough grade. The driveway area was filled with compacted #57 stone to restore temporary access while permanent asphalt replacement is arranged separately.
