A little funny behind the scenes......

I always say I stick to what I know — kitchens + baths. But when one of your best friends asks you to help with new paint and carpet in their guest bedroom… how exactly do you say no? 🤍 I didn't!

When I first opened HL by Design, I jokingly told my husband that if I had to sell pictures of my feet online to afford a certain part of my showroom, I would do it. Thankfully, it never came to that. 😂

But THIS carpet? It is so ridiculously lush and plush that I found myself taking pictures of my feet trying to capture just how amazing it feels.

Spoiler alert: the picture doesn’t even come close.

Sometimes you have to step outside of kitchens and baths for your best friends… especially when the carpet feels this good. 🤍 Leave it to Jess @ Heartlin Photography to capture me in my own world trying to make content!

✨ Bath #3 - Definitely saved the best one for last!!
(And WAY OVER-DUE on this post)

Elegant. Glamorous. Clean lined. Sophisticated. Every detail came together to create a bathroom that feels luxurious without being overdone. The kind of space that makes you stop and take it all in.

This guest ensuite is one of those baths I think we'd all happily have in our home or want to stay in!!

BATH TWO!

This little half bath needed just a tiny facelift as well. Somewhat mirroring materials and colors to the other bath, we made just a few small changes so that they weren't so matchy matchy, because that's boring 😜

I can never fully express how much it means that some of our closest friends trusted me with their home. That kind of trust is something I'll never take for granted.

Who would think that updating a floor and changing out the pedestal sink would be such fresh perspective?!

Two years ago, I had the pleasure of designing this kitchen....New layout, supplying the cabinetry and countertops. My clients took on the installation themselves, pouring their own hard work and dedication into bringing the vision to life.

Today, they invited me back to capture the finished project, and I couldn't be more grateful. It's always an honor when clients think of me long after the design is complete, and seeing a space finally come together is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

When I pulled up to this house for our first meeting, I thought the address sounded a little familiar but didn't know the location until I arrived. When the homeowner opened the door, we both realized why.

Years earlier, I had designed their bathroom while working for another company. When it came time to remodel their kitchen, they reached out to a designer friend of mine owner of for a recommendation and, without realizing I was the same designer who had worked on their bathroom, she referred them to HL by Design.

A full-circle moment that reminded me there's no greater compliment than being trusted a second time.

I always love these 'little' jobs that transform a space like no other! And by little, I mean there are more things to think about and plan for than tearing everything out and starting new.

What's even more exciting is the story behind how HL Closet Studio came to be. It wasn't something I planned years ago, and it certainly wasn't on my bingo card. But sometimes the best opportunities find you when you least expect them.
