DAY 30 • DAILY ROUTINE 🌿

We made it to Day 30!

Today's routine included watering, w**ding, fertilizing my overflowing stock tanks, deadheading my rose allée, and finding a new home for the Sweet Romance® lavender I moved yesterday.

But today was really about looking back at what these simple tasks have accomplished. None of them felt particularly significant on their own, but doing them consistently for 30 days has completely changed the way I care for and pay attention to my garden.

The individual tasks were small, but together they added up to something pretty incredible.

DAY 29 • DAILY ROUTINE 🌿

Sometimes a plant can be perfectly beautiful and still not be quite right for the space.

Today's routine included watering, fertilizing, w**ding, and deadheading before I tackled a little garden editing in my Orchard Garden.

I replaced two Sweet Romance® lavender plants along this walkway with evergreen boxwood topiaries. The surrounding garden is loose and natural, so adding that little bit of formality gave the area exactly the structure it was missing. And don't worry, I'm saving the lavender and finding it a new home!

Garden editing doesn't always mean getting rid of a plant. Sometimes it just means finding the place where it belongs.

DAY 28 • DAILY ROUTINE 🌿

Not every part of my garden gets the same amount of attention, so choosing the right plants for those areas makes all the difference.

Today's routine included watering, deadheading my Citrus Sunrise Kniphofia, pulling a few w**ds, and giving the perennials and shrubs a midsummer feeding.

Finally, I planted a Cleveland sage that my friend Debb gave me. It's a California native that loves hot, dry conditions, so I think it's going to be perfectly happy in this part of the garden with very little attention from me.
Sometimes the best plant isn't just the prettiest one. It's the one that's perfectly suited to the place you're asking it to grow.

DAY 27 • DAILY ROUTINE 🌿

I'm realizing that the biggest change from this daily garden routine isn't how much I'm getting done. It's what I'm finally staying on top of.

Today's routine included watering, w**ding, deadheading my Sweet Romance® lavender, fertilizing my front porch containers, and planting some Truffula™ Pink gomphrena from my plant stash.

These little maintenance jobs are exactly the things I've let slide in past years, and it feels so good to finally be keeping up with them.

The little jobs are easy to put off, but they're also the ones that keep a garden looking cared for.

DAY 26 • DAILY ROUTINE 🌿

Sometimes the garden jobs that make the biggest difference take almost no time at all.

Today's daily routine took me into my center island, where I w**ded and fertilized around my Purple Pillar® rose of Sharon before underplanting it with Bejeweled™ Dark Amethyst penstemon.

I finished by deadheading a Playin' the Blues® salvia that had been bothering me every time I walked past it. The entire job took less than two minutes, but it made such a difference!

Improving your garden doesn't always require a huge project. Sometimes two minutes is all it takes.

DAY 25 • DAILY ROUTINE 🌿

Some days I want gardening to be productive and exciting. Other days, I just need it to be quiet.

Today's daily routine was one of those slower mornings. I cut back my Cat's Meow® nepeta, tackled more bindw**d, planted a Paprika heuchera in my developing shade garden, and fertilized my camellia.

Instead of rushing through everything, I let myself enjoy the mundane jobs. There's something so relaxing about letting your hands work while your brain gets a chance to switch off for a little while.

Not every day in the garden needs to be about getting as much done as possible. Sometimes it's enough to slow down and enjoy being there.

DAY 24 • DAILY ROUTINE 🌿

Some garden problems may never completely go away, but that doesn't mean they have to take over.

Today's daily routine included fertilizing one of my newly mulched garden beds, tackling my never-ending Bermuda grass, and deadheading my Shasta daisies.

While I was working, I realized this bed was missing some color, so I made a mental note to keep an eye out for a few colorful annuals. That's one of the benefits of spending time in the garden every day. You start noticing the little things that could make it even better.

Consistency doesn't always solve a garden problem overnight, but it can make even the toughest jobs feel a lot less overwhelming.

DAY 23 • DAILY ROUTINE 🌿

So much of gardening is doing a little work today for something you won't fully enjoy until later.

Today's daily routine included w**ding, deadheading the young climbing roses along my rose allée, and fertilizing my annuals. Those climbing roses are still babies, but I can't wait to see them eventually grow overhead and create a tunnel of blooms!

Finally, I planted Lemon Coral® sedum along my dry creek bed. I love using it as a living mulch to soften the rocks, add beautiful chartreuse color, and hopefully help suppress some w**ds as it fills in.

Small improvements may not look like much today, but they can make a huge difference over time.

DAY 22 • DAILY ROUTINE 🌿

Sometimes you find a plant at the garden center that you just HAVE to try.

Today's daily routine started with watering my plant stash before I headed to the back garden to deadhead one of my favorite white dahlias. I also spent a few minutes pulling w**ds and fertilized the annuals in my center island to keep them blooming their best.

Finally, I planted a new-to-me Plectranthus neochilus that my friend Debb recommended when we visited Curious Flora. It's supposed to be a tough, long-blooming, snail-resistant groundcover, so I'm really curious to see how it performs in my garden!

You can read all about a plant, but sometimes you just have to grow it yourself and see what happens.

DAY 21 • DAILY ROUTINE 🌿

Not every day in the garden has to be a big gardening day. Sometimes, doing the minimum is more than enough.

Today’s daily routine included watering, pulling one w**d, deadheading my yellow cannas, and planting Helen von Stein lamb’s ear in a shady corner of the garden.

Even on days when you do not have much energy, a few small tasks can still keep your garden moving in the right direction. It all counts.

Consistency may not always look like a long to-do list. Sometimes it looks like simply showing up and doing what you can.
