When we arrived to help the new owners renovate, the kitchen had already been completed by the previous owners, but the rest of the home still needed work. One of the biggest changes was painting all the plywood walls/ceilings white, which sealed the wood and reduced some of the texture. New LVP flooring was installed throughout the house for a consistent look.

In the bedrooms, built-in bed frames were removed to allow for standard furniture. The bathrooms were updated with new vanities, toilets, and Wet Wall tub/shower combos. Outside, the hot tub was moved from the front deck to a new back deck. New light fixtures and baseboard heaters were also installed throughout the home.

Retro pink to modern blue.

From the appearance of the bathroom we believe that last time it had been remodeled was the 1980s. Due to the age of this 120+y/o Thomas home, and it settling on a hillside, there really wasn't a straight/square/plumb line in the bathroom. We ended up gutting the whole room from floor to ceiling. All plumbing and electrical were updated and a new subfloor was installed and leveled as much as possible before laying LVP flooring. A new ceiling also allowed us to gain an extra inch or two of height.

For the tub/shower, we installed a steel, porcelain-enameled bathtub with high-gloss tile, integrated corner shelves, and a multi-fixture setup with a tub spout, showerhead, and handheld option. The walls were painted Danube by Sherwin-Williams with glossy white trim. A new 36-inch vanity, updated lighting, towel bars, and mirror complete the space.

We're a little behind posting some of the transformations we've made over the years, so we're going to sprinkle some posts about those in between our recent work.

The biggest transformation in this space was a 10-foot extension added to the back wall with the windows. To make that possible, we installed a new support beam that spans from the kitchen at the front of the house all the way to the back wall. While we were at it, we incorporated ducting into the new beam/bulkhead so the home could finally have A/C.

To keep the original character intact, new pine boards were carefully installed to match the 40+ year-old ceiling, and all cross beams were painted to match the original color. We also updated the electrical throughout, added a new lighting layout, installed drywall to brighten the space, and laid new laminate flooring. The wood-burning fireplace was replaced with a new gas unit, and a custom log mantel was added to the original stone face to complete this side of the room.

On the other side, the kitchen was completely redesigned and expanded, featuring custom KraftMaid cabinets, quartz countertops, a marble backsplash, and stainless steel appliances.

Right before the start of ski season we finished remodeling the kitchen and bathrooms at this beautiful slopeside home.

The kitchen was truly done top to bottom. The ceiling was refinished smooth, a closet was removed to expand the kitchen square footage (involving relocating the hot water tank to the basement), and the location of major appliances were moved. Custom KraftMaid cabinets and quartz countertops, new lighting layout and LVP flooring were installed. The only thing that stayed in the same place was the kitchen sink.

In the upstairs bathroom it was decided to remove the oversized tub and relocate the sink to that wall in favor of more vanity space. Due to the unique ceiling/roof lines of this room hardwired, pre-lit mirrors were used with wall sconces to help light that area, along with additional lighting on the shower side of the room. The shower insert was removed so a fully tiled shower with glass door could be installed.
