25 years ago today, 2,977 people went to work, boarded flights, reported for duty, or simply started an ordinary morning and never came home.
We remember every innocent life that was lost, and we honor the firefighters, police officers, first responders, and ordinary Americans who ran toward danger when everyone else was trying to escape.
343 firefighters were among those killed that day. Their courage, along with the courage shown by so many others, is something this country should never forget. Today isn’t about politics or division. It’s about remembering the people, the families they left behind, and the way Americans stood together afterward.

You can see this mast took a beating. This is a good example of why the way a service is installed matters.

The mast ran down through the roof and actually continued inside the house. From what we can see, it appears the mast was relying on basically one strap for support. Once the tree limbs fell, it pulled the mast forward and that one clamp supporting it gave out. Causing a huge issue and possibly a fire hazard.

You can see what happened. The mast got pulled over, tore up the roof pe*******on and damaged the wall and ceiling inside the house.

There are quite a few other things about this installation that aren't great either. The service wiring and pe*******ons are pretty rough, there's exposed wiring above the panel, and the whole setup looks like it's been pieced together handy man style.

A service mast has a lot more force on it than people realize. Those overhead lines are constantly pulling on it, and when you add heavy wind or falling limbs, that force goes up fast. It needs to be properly supported and attached to something that can actually take that load.

Could a bad enough storm still damage a properly installed service? Absolutely. But proper support can make a huge difference.

We'll get this one torn out and put back together the way it should have been.
