Work in progress at Towers VII Condominium in Ponce Inlet...
This building has post tension (pt) cables embedded in the concrete as opposed to rebar, so we have to treat concrete repairs differently.
When working on balcony slabs with the "live" pt cable ends (the end that gets stressed /pulled), we must demo carefully and expose the cable ends, then have a qualified pt contractor de-tension the cables prior to concrete demo.
After the repaired concrete has hardened enough, the pt contractor re-stresses (re-tensions) the cables back to the engineer-specified tension (in this case 30k psi).
Now we can continue with our deck coating.
