Congratulations to Chris Harder on celebrating 10 years with W.S. Cumby!

When asked what his favorite thing about working at W.S. Cumby is, Chris said, “There are honestly too many things for me to choose just one.” We think that says a lot about his experience here over the past decade!

Outside of work, Chris enjoys traveling, camping, attending his sons’ sporting events, and spending time with family and friends.

Chris has been a valued member of the W.S. Cumby team for the past 10 years, and we are grateful for his hard work, dedication, and the many contributions he has made along the way. Congratulations on this milestone, Chris! We look forward to seeing your continued success in the years to come.

to the Ivy Club project at Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey. W.S. Cumby provided Construction Management Services for the construction of a 8,400 SF addition and renovation to Princeton’s original eating club, originally constructed in 1879. The project included a new great hall, library, winter room and terrace. The scope included custom lighting and millwork, and a geothermal HVAC system serving the new addition. Thoughtfully designed by James Bradberry Architects and Porphyrios Associates.

to the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association project in Pennington, New Jersey. W.S. Cumby provided Construction Management services for the expansion and renovation of The Watershed Institute, which received LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The building included new classrooms, laboratories, offices, an interactive exhibition gallery, educational spaces and a gift shop. Thoughtfully designed by Farewell Architects LLC.

to the Trinity Church Princeton project in Princeton, New Jersey. W.S. Cumby provided construction services for a 30,000 SF renovation to this historic church. Although founded in 1833, the original church structure was erected in 1870 in Gothic-style architecture, designed by Richard M. Upjohn.

The scope of work included interior improvements to the Church, Ivy Hall and Pierce
Hall and featured a new state-of-the-art ground source heating and cooling system linked to a geothermal well field. Other improvements included a new lighting and electrical distribution system, new wood and stone floor finishes, a new skylight in the Narthex, and new and refurbished millwork throughout the Sanctuary. The historical renovation portion included detailed masonry cleaning, furniture restoration of historic church pews, wood restoration and conservation of art and stained glass. Thoughtfully designed by KSK Architects, Planners, Historians.

W.S. Cumby is seeking a motivated, self-starting, deadline-driven and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Business Development/Client Relations Manager. The ideal candidate will be relationship-focused, highly organized, and embody the company's core values of Integrity, Partnership and Commitment.

The Business Development/Client Relations Manager supports the company’s growth by identifying construction opportunities, building strong industry relationships, and maintaining long-term client partnerships. This position works closely with leadership, estimating, operations, and marketing to pursue projects aligned with the company’s capabilities and business goals.

Responsibilities:
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities with owners, developers, architects, and other industry partners
• Maintain relationships with existing and past clients to encourage repeat business and referrals
• Develop a clear understanding of client needs, project plans, budgets, and timelines.
• Coordinate with estimating and operations to evaluate opportunities and support proposals, presentations, and project interviews
• Maintain accurate client contacts, opportunities, and follow-up activities in the company’s CRM system
• Represent the company at industry events, networking functions, and client meetings.
• Stay connected with clients throughout projects and after completion, gathering feedback and coordinating with project teams to address concerns
• Support marketing efforts through project information, testimonials, and client success stories
• Track and report on business development activity, upcoming opportunities, and progress toward growth goals

Qualifications:
• Experience in business development or client relations within general construction or a related industry
• Strong communication, relationship-building, organizational, and follow-through skills
• Familiarity with construction processes, proposals, and CRM systems
• An established industry network is preferred

to the Carl A. Fields Center for Equality & Cultural Understanding project at Princeton University. W.S. Cumby provided Preconstruction and Construction Phase services for the complete reconstruction and expansion of the historic Elm Club, one of the University’s original eating clubs.

The scope of the 21,400 SF sustainably designed project included the exterior
restoration of the existing building to recreate the original 1901 Club, an adaptive
re-use of the three story structure to house seminar and meeting rooms, a library,
administrative offices, and student organizations that provide educational enrichment
youth programs. The new 7,700 SF addition provided a welcoming lobby with exhibition
space, a multi-use hall for large events, an elevator, kitchen and restrooms. Thoughtfully designed by Ann Beha Architects.
