As the sun was setting on the year, A.D. 2019, I couldn’t help but to take notice of the Hackberry tree at my back entrance. Its existence seemed very relevant to the significance of an evening like this. Although, naturally, its growth rate is on the speedier side of the scale, it’s every bit of 75-90 feet tall. Which is taller than most common hackberries. Meaning the conditions in the soil, water table, etc. were JUST right for this guy to be able to grow strong and healthy.
With that being said, this is Southern Illinois, and while it may not be the coldest or the warmest part of the country, the weather is definitely moody to say the least. It has undoubtably seen its fair share of “drastic conditions” for every bit of 60-70-80 years, maybe even longer.
We could all gain understating from some thing... even as simple as a tree.
So, as the sun rises on a new year tomorrow morning, no matter what “weather” life throws at you in 2020... as long as you are confidently rooted in a soil of proper conditions, the rest will fall into place.
Happy New Year, Y’all.
Welcome to 2020. 🍾🎉
