What are factory built fireplaces, and what should one consider if they are looking add one to their home?
A factory-built fireplace is built to be added to an existing home or to replace an old fireplace for ones looking to add a wood or gas heat source. they can also be added for the fire aesthetic. What should one consider about factory-built fireplaces before adding one to their home? The key is your expectations. Why do you want a fireplace? There are great options for ones looking for a decorative fireplace for the aesthetic, and there are good options for those wanting substantial heat or wanting to supplement their energy bill. It is important to know this. While the price of a decorative fireplace is appealing, a homeowner wanting heat will be disappointed with a decorative system. If you want both or are uncertain, high-efficiency fireplaces are the better option. While they cost more upfront than a decorative system, they provide considerable heat while providing a large view of the fire. The photos included of are high efficiency fireplaces we install made by napoleon fireplaces and ventis fireplaces. If you have an existing fireplace or factory-built fireplace that doesn't provide enough heat to meet your needs, we can replace it with a high-efficiency fireplace. It is important to consider that they often constitute a small remodel, however you will be left with a heater that will stand the test of time.

Fireplace owners are often confronted with the costly repair of relining a fireplace. Is such a repair necessary? Just what is a fireplace liner, and what does such a repair entail? A Liner quite simply is a long flexible metal pipe designed to vent your chimney. The sizes vary depending on the fireplace. They are constructed with premium stainless-steel alloys, and many are backed with lifetime warranties. The main purpose is to repair damaged flues. Damage such as broken flue tiles or missing tile joints can create a dangerous situation in the fireplace. You may think of a damaged exhaust on your car. Damage in the wrong places can result in fumes going to areas they should not reach and posing a problem to the car owner. The same is true with broken tiles in fireplaces. A liner bypasses any flue damage giving you a new long-lasting flue/vent. A liner should be well insulated. When a liner is sized correctly, and well insulated It will draw better than flue tiles and or the existing flue. Overall, a liner is both an excellent repair and upgrade that will last the test of time while providing a homeowner with peace of mind. We always recommend having a qualified hearth professional effect such a repair. Ones may consider doing the repair themselves. While that is a decision that you can make, it is important to consider that while a liner is a great repair, incorrect installation can create both serious and costly damage. Liners must be carefully sized to a system, and there are many factors that must be considered to install one. Qualified hearth professionals go through continual and rigorous training to ensure a quality job is done time and time again. When choosing a company, we recommend companies that are either CSIA or NFI certified. Either of these certifications help to ensure you receive good service by competent professionals. The first photos show what damaged flue tiles look like, followed by photos of a newly installed liner.

Fireplace inserts are a Great option for ones looking to maximize the amount of heat they get out of there fireplace in a safe and effective way. We recommend napoleon inserts, such as the T25I shown here. This unit in particular is unique compared to most inserts for the following reasons;
- able to hold 23" log size, while others can only use 16" maximum
-large pane glass for a great view of the fire while enjoying the heat efficiency of a wood stove
-equipped with whisper-quiet fans, this will help to distribute the heat through your home without hearing loud hums in the background.
- Heats up to 2,000sq. ft., putting out 70,000Btus
While many inserts have some of the features above, the T25I stands out from the rest being able to incorporate all the above features into a more modern, higher efficiency system.
