๐ Yellow Jacket & Wasp Awareness Post
As temperatures continue to warm up, we're starting to see a noticeable increase in yellow jacket and wasp activity around the area.
A few things homeowners should know:
โ
Yellow jackets can become aggressive when their nest is disturbed and will often sting multiple times.
โ
Many nests are hidden underground, inside wall voids, sheds, play structures, and under decks.
โ
If you notice a steady stream of wasps flying to and from the same location, there's a good chance a nest is nearby.
โ
Early-season nests are usually much smaller and easier to deal with than late-summer colonies that can contain hundreds or even thousands of insects.
โ ๏ธ If you find a nest, avoid spraying it during the heat of the day or disturbing it without proper protective equipment. This is when many stings occur.
If you're unsure whether you're dealing with yellow jackets, paper wasps, hornets, or bees, post a photo in the comments and I'll identify it for you.
