Update: We want to thank everyone that reached out on social media and personally to us.
We have come to an agreement with the cemetery committee and town.
We didn’t want to take this approach, but we have been trying to get this resolved since we saw the bid go out in the paper.
To the town of Deering and fellow neighbors.
Many have called or stopped my house to ask why the seasonal mowing town cemeteries and town properties haven’t been started.
Please contact our cemetery committee and town administrator.
As Memorial Day being a day to honor all that have served.
My being a disabled combat veteran of Iraq is see this as a disrespect.
It is a shame that our veteran memorial in the center of town and the cemeteries where the salute the veterans who have passed will not be mowed or cleaned up.
For those I haven’t lost due to a lengthy post..
A couple months ago the cemetery committee published a request to bid for cemetery maintenance for 2026. I then approached the committee to let them know I won the bid for a three year contract for 24,25 and 26 that expires in the fall of 2026.
The committee then agreed not to accept any bids and investigate why this was not previously noted.
Lack of documentation from our previous administration is not reason for the committee not to honor the contract. I have provided proof of documentation to our selectmen.
Due to previous issues I have asked the committee to agree and sign off that I have one more year on my contract before work will commence.
At this point my hands are tied.
