Wish I had gotten a picture when the corn was about 2 feet shorter! 🤪 Pawpaw said he just liked to grow corn to watch it grow. He would go out to the garden, like in the picture, and place his hand over the top of the corn. The corn is already as tall as me; I’m 5’ 4”. When I put it in the ground, on April 9th from transplant, it was about 6 inches tall. That was 6 weeks ago. All I did was apply nitrogen fertilizer and triple 13 every couple of weeks and watered it every other day! It already has tassels!😮

Yesterday, I went to pick the green beans and was surprised by how much I ended up with! 8 pounds y’all, 8 pounds!!!!! After snapping off the ends (my sweet husband helped), I was able to freeze 5 quarts. The only thing I’m doing differently in the garden this year, than in years past, is adding worm castings and some wood ash (that my cousins so graciously supplied); I also sprinkle in some triple 13 fertilizer and till it in! That’s all I did, and so far, this year PawpawsPatch has blessed us with an abundance of squash (35lbs.) and now green beans (9lbs).
Note: Green Lake Bush beans are an easy crop to grow; it only took 2 months from planting to harvest!

Good Morning! Hope y’all are having a blessed day! Yesterday, I thought I posted this video of the garden, but apparently I forgot to hit the “post” button. 😂 I noticed I said the tomatoes on the trellis were determinate; those are indeterminate, and the tomatoes that are staked up are determinate.
Also, a picture of the tray I started my corn in. You can start corn in seed trays! Just make sure they have good roots before planting.

It’s that time of the year, the garden is starting to come in. So far, things are going well, but the bugs aren’t out yet!🫣🥺 Today, I was able harvest some zucchini, straight neck squash, sweet banana peppers, poblano and basil.
I made some appetizers with the basil. All it takes is some cubed up mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes (not mine, yet), basil, balsamic glaze, salt and some toothpicks. I start with a tomato, then basil, cheese, repeat! After they’re made, I drizzle balsamic glaze all over them and sprinkle some salt on them!

Meet “Roo.” I’ve been wanting one of these silly metal roosters for a few years. I told my husband I would like to have one for my birthday! Yesterday, he surprised me with an early birthday present, my birthday is in July. “Roo” keeps watch over the garden, and makes me smile every time I see him. Find something that makes you smile, even if it is an obnoxious, oversized, overpriced rooster! 😂😂😂 Cock-a-doodle-doo! 🐔🐔🐔

My squash really loved the rain we had yesterday! I went out to the garden and was pleasantly surprised when I saw these zucchini and straight neck squash. Won’t be much longer before we get to enjoy some fresh veggies out of the garden!

All the plants are finally in the garden. Some plants I started indoors and some plants I bought from a nursery (if you live near Crestview, Florida, I highly recommend Crestview Nursery. Some of the seeds were bought, some I saved from last year. Praying for a good harvest!
