The new fallen snow sparkles on the Wichita Blue Juniper! The contrast of the soft, white snow gently sitting on the blue needles creates winter interest in the garden and a beautiful view from my kitchen.

This is Arum italicum 'Marmoratum,' known for its gorgeous marbled foliage, especially when planted en masse. Despite my area being at the very edges of its hardiness zone range, I fell head over heels, completely ignored the flashing warning signs, and ordered the bulbs. Fifty bulbs to be exact. (She writes sheepishly.)

And here we are—one leaf.

I routinely warn my clients about buying plants because "it looks so pretty" in the catalog, and here I fell for it hook, line, and sinker. Oh, the shame! The irony! The humbling reality of gardening hubris!

It's tough being human. Even tougher being a gardener who should know better. 🍃

A day excursion to Grand Canyon West, tribal land owned by the Hualapai Nation, offered breathtaking views and an unexpected botanical discovery!

See that cheerful yellow plant in the foreground? It's a Rubber Rabbitbrush, and the yellow flowers actually feel like rubber! I have my hands in plants all the time, but this bizzare rubbery texture was the oddest feeling I've ever felt in the plant world. I love it when plants surprise me like this!

Growing here in this rugged and unforgiving landscape, finding the tiniest amount of soil between ancient rocks, this resilient little wonder reminded me: Seeds can grow and bloom wherever they land.

A summer visit to a local treasure! "Visit The Central Park Rose Gardens in Schenectady" had been on my list of local gardens to tour. The flow of the design is intentional and effortless from one path to the next. Oh and the roses!!!🌹🌹🌹 Perfection in every variety and color.

Sound on! The wind delivered the show of this Quaking Aspen tree over Mirror Lake in Lake Placid, NY. Something about the Adirondacks soothes the soul! IYKYK.

I LOVE this plant! The leaves look like an artist gently swiped the paint brush. And the FLOWERS - need I say more?! This Tradescantia 'Nanouk' Pink 'Wandering Dude” was an at the register impulse purchase from Faddegon's Nursery. It was hanging at the checkout kiosk and I fell in love with the color and foliage. Trust your gut on an impulse plant purchase!!

Highlights from a recent walk through Congress Park in Saratoga Springs NY included seeing “The Twins,” two vases depicting cherubs at night and day, created 210 years ago by Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen. Saratoga in the summer during horse racing season is the best! Our "Day" was strolling on Broadway. Our "Night" was Billy Idol in concert!! 🤘🎸🌼🌓
