Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) is the line item that doesn't sit on a spreadsheet until you're tearing off a section of insulation and staring at pitting.
Here's the mechanism every asset integrity engineer already knows, said plainly: traditional mineral-wool insulation sits in an annulus around the pipe, and that annulus collects water. Water against hot carbon steel, cycling between wet and dry, over 10+ years, is an industrial-grade corrosion reactor.
The mitigation tactics we've all tried, v***r barriers, jacketing, inspection port cutouts, sacrificial coatings, each close part of the loop. None remove the annulus itself.
Cool Touch takes a different structural approach. It bonds directly to the metal substrate. No annulus. No trapped water. No CUI pathway in the first place. Thermal performance comes from the Insulative Ceramic Particle (ICP) matrix that gives the coating its insulative properties, not from air space held in a blanket.
For operators, the downstream effect is fewer inspection cutouts, less unplanned repair work at shutdown, and a coating that doesn't hide the asset underneath it.
