North Texas, heads up!
The next 5 days are going to be active.
NWS Fort Worth just updated their forecast this morning and here's what we're looking at through May 24th across the DFW area and the 60-mile radius:
Today (Wed May 20) — Quieter day. A line of storms is still clearing out to the south but most of DFW sees a calmer afternoon. Good time to step outside and check your gutters and roof line before the next round.
⚡ Thursday May 21 — 75% chance of storms. Hail and damaging winds possible. This is the one to watch this week.
⛅ Friday May 22 — Partially clearing, 25% chance. Warmer, mid-80s.
⚡ Saturday May 23 — 75% chance of storms again. Another active day with hail potential.
⚡ Sunday May 24 — 75% chance. Active pattern continues through the weekend.
That's three days out of the next five with 75% storm probability. In North Texas in late May, that means hail, wind, and roof damage and a lot of homeowners who won't realize they have a problem until the next heavy rain finds it.
Here's what we want you to know before Thursday hits 👇
🔴 Hail damage doesn't always leak right away. It weakens the shingle underneath, strips granules, and creates vulnerabilities that show up weeks later, sometimes after the insurance filing window has started closing.
🏢 Commercial roofs need attention too. Flat and low-slope roofs (TPO, torch-down) are especially vulnerable to standing water and membrane damage after repeated storm cycles. If you manage a property and haven't had it inspected this season, this week is the time.
🏠 Residential homeowners: if your home is 10+ years old and hasn't been inspected since the last major hail event, you may have damage you don't know about. We see it every week.
