Priced out kitchen cabinets so we could update our kitchen…After seeing the price we decided to make doors and drawer faces instead and just keep the old cabinets. We went from an outdated raised panel style to a shaker style door with new paint and k***s. Lots more work to do to upgrade the kitchen including countertops and backsplash but that is a battle for another day. We are happy with how they turned out.

I didn’t start taking pictures until I was almost finished like a dummy but this was an old dresser that I removed the bottom 2 rows of drawers from and then rebuilt with some walnut I’ve had taking up space for years.I replaced a cheap veneer top with a solid walnut panel. I made some custom moldings for the top and to trim out the bottom opening. It’s hard to tell in the limited light I have here but that’s a dark blue color with a slight hint of green in it. This is for our house and was the dresser from the first set of bedroom furniture my wife and I had when we got married. I like the way it turned out since the other option for the piece was the landfill. It was a ton of work but I really love how it turned out.

This was a challenging build but we got it together. Bruce Muir and I tied these two slabs together and built this base from walnut and curly maple. This thing is heavy! Sending it out to a pro to finish it with a clear coat but our work is done. Yes those are pockets under the table for storage or in the case of this customer, a gun shelf.

One of the things I’ve been able to bond with my son over has been a shared love of live music. We went to see this band together in Charlotte at The Music Yard…it was supposed to be at the Visulite as the poster says but they had a roof leak and had to move it at the last minute. We had the best time together so I bought a poster to commemorate the night. I had this beautiful piece of Katalox (Mexican hardwood) and thought it would make the prettiest frame. Yes I know it’s on a bush but I’m waiting for Amazon to get here with some glazing points so I can secure the foam back 😂 I used 10 coats of Formby’s tung oil blend to finish it and wanted to get a picture in the sun to show off the sheen.

As I mentioned a few weeks back I picked up some lumber to build a workbench/outfeed table. I had a pretty bad hand/arm injury during the process that I won’t show you pictures of, but I finally got it complete today. Made from ash with a black melamine top. This is able to be fully disassembled if I ever move because this is coming with me. This bench is a game changer for me.
