Got a call from a Denver homeowner last week.

She'd already had two contractors come out. One told her she needed a full replacement immediately. The other quoted her something so vague she didn't even know what she was paying for.

Both pressured her to sign the same day.

She didn't. She called me instead.

I got up there and took my time. Looked at everything properly. Checked the attic. Walked every slope.

Came back down and told her the truth.

She didn't need a full replacement. She had two sections worth addressing and a flashing issue near the chimney. All of it repairable. All of it documentable for her claim.

I gave her a clear written scope. Every line item explained. No surprises. No pressure.

She looked at me and said "why didn't the other guys just tell me that?"

Honestly. I don't know.

What I do know is that the thing Denver homeowners want most from a roofing contractor is also the simplest thing in the world.

Just tell me the truth. Show up when you say you will. Do what you said you'd do. Don't disappear after the check clears.

That's it. That's the whole job.

Born and raised right here in Colorado.

Grew up splitting time between Denver and Peru, where my family's business taught me everything I know about entrepreneurship, community, and what it actually means to show up for people.

I've watched Denver grow from a small city into what it is today. I've been here for all of it.

I started BossLady Contracting with zero construction experience and a whole lot of faith and naivety. Learned the trade side by side with the installers, in the trenches, the way you actually learn things.

Okay I have to show you this.

We are transforming this backyard in Denver and I am obsessed with how this pergola is coming together.

This is the part of the job that reminds me why I love what I do. You start with an empty space and a vision and then you just build it. Piece by piece, day by day, until something that didn't exist before is suddenly exactly what someone imagined for their home.

Outdoor living spaces are everything out here in Colorado. We have too many beautiful days to spend them all inside.

This client is about to have a backyard they never want to leave. Honestly I don't blame them.

BossLady Contracting is not just roofing. We take care of the whole home and that includes making the outside just as good as the inside.

Out here in Denver today doing a damage assessment and yep. Found hail damage.

This is exactly why I say don't wait to have someone look after a storm.

From the ground this roof looked completely fine. Nothing obvious. Nothing alarming. Just a normal house on a normal street.

Up close it told a completely different story.

Impact marks across the shingles. Granule loss in concentrated areas. The kind of damage that sits quietly and does its thing until one day it isn't quiet anymore.

The homeowner had no idea. They weren't even sure the storm had been that bad.

The roof knew.

Okay real talk. Friends is my all time favorite show and I am not even a little embarrassed about it.

Every episode. Multiple times. I could probably recite entire scenes word for word and have definitely done it without meaning to in regular conversation.

There's something about that show that just never gets old. The chaos, the loyalty, the way they always showed up for each other no matter what.

Actually that last part hits different when I think about it.

Showing up for people is kind of the whole thing for me too. Whether it's a homeowner who's stressed about storm damage at 7 AM or a client who just needs a straight answer before they make a big decision.

This one felt good.

Stripped everything down to the bones, rebuilt it the right way, and now she's ready for paint.

There's something really satisfying about a project like this. No shortcuts, no covering up what was already there, just starting clean and doing it right from the start.

Siding tells the whole story of a home if you know how to read it. What's been patched over. What's been ignored. What the weather has done to it over the years.

This home had a story. We listened to it and then we gave it a better next chapter.

Paint goes on next and I cannot wait to see the finished product.

Something we ran into today on a Lakewood job that every homeowner deserves to know about.

Pulled back the old shingles and found spaced decking underneath. In Lakewood that means the previous installation should have included a solid OSB overlay before the new roof went on. It's not optional. It's what the city requires and it's what protects the structural integrity of everything above it.

The previous roofer skipped it.

We didn't find out until we were already up here. The homeowner had no idea. They just trusted that whoever did the work before did it right.

That's the thing about roofing. A lot of what matters most is completely invisible until someone who knows what to look for actually looks.

We're doing it right today. OSB going down, everything up to code, Lakewood requirements met, no shortcuts.

This homeowner is going to have a roof that was done the way it should have been from the start.

That's what showing up with integrity looks like on a job site.

There's something about hitting the open road that just fills you up in a way nothing else does.

Kind of like a job that goes exactly right.

Every roof I get on tells a different story.

Different weather history, different installation, different surprises hiding in places nobody's looked in years.

I love that about this work. You show up, you look carefully, and you figure it out.

Going to hit all 50 states!

And between every adventure she and I always find our way back to Colorado where I'm out here taking care of homeowners across the Denver Metro the way I'd want someone to take care of mine.

Storm season and summer adventure season happen to run at the same time out here. Good thing I'm built for both.
