Your plumbing horoscope for the week 🔮🚿

♈ Aries: Your shower finally holds a steady temperature. Enjoy this rare cosmic alignment.
♉ Ta**us: You’ll label those mystery shutoff valves. The future you says thanks.
♊ Gemini: That faucet drip pauses the instant you call a plumber. “See? It’s fine!”
♋ Cancer: Houseguests discover every bathroom at the exact same time.
♌ Leo: Your washing machine shutoff valve is about to become a household celebrity.
♍ Virgo: You’ll read the installation instructions before starting. The stars are impressed.
♎ Libra: You’ll weigh two equally good towel hooks for an oddly long time.
♏ Scorpio: You’ll spot the one faucet handle that’s been turned the wrong way for years.
♐ Sagittarius: A quick bathroom tidy turns into reorganizing the whole vanity.
♑ Capricorn: Your plunger gets promoted to most-used kitchen utensil. (A title it did not seek.)
♒ Aquarius: You’ll discover the shower curtain has been quietly negotiating with the floor.
♓ Pisces: You’ll remember where you put the spare roll of toilet paper. A small domestic miracle.

Every laundry day, another sock vanishes into the void. At this point, we’re all just accepting it 😄

Sometimes a missing sock turns up where it shouldn’t, like in the washer’s drain path or the standpipe behind the machine. If your washer drains slowly or water backs up around the standpipe during the drain cycle, note when it happens. A licensed plumber can track down and clear the line before it becomes a bigger problem.

Does your water heater corner double as the basement’s storage wing? Holiday decorations, luggage, paint cans, and that exercise bike that’s now a drying rack. We get it; basements have a way of collecting things! 😄

Just leave a little breathing room around the water heater and keep a clear path to it, so it can be reached easily when service is needed.

Before a small plumbing problem becomes a big surprise, take a few minutes to locate your fixture shutoff valves. Most sinks and toilets have a small valve nearby; you may also find shutoffs for your washing machine, dishwasher and refrigerator water line. Knowing where they are can let you stop water to one fixture without turning off water to the whole house.

Every so often, gently turn each valve off and back on by hand. Never force a valve that’s stuck or corroded. If one drips, leaks or won’t turn, have a licensed plumber replace it. During a leak, closing the fixture valve may stop water to that fixture while you arrange help.

Shopping for a new toilet? A few checks can help you find the right fit.

Measure the rough-in: from the finished wall to the center of the floor bolts. Twelve inches is common, but don’t assume, measure your bathroom first. Then consider bowl height: standard height or a taller comfort-height option that many adults find easier on the knees and back. Dual-flush or WaterSense-labeled models can also help reduce water use. A photo of your current toilet’s make and model can be handy while you shop.

Toilet removal and installation involve the closet fl**ge and wax seal, so proper fitting and sealing matter. Plunge Plus Plumbing is locally owned and operated since 2009, licensed and insured, and focused on getting the job right the first time. We provide transparent written pricing before work begins and back our work with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Available 8 AM–8 PM, Monday through Saturday; closed Sundays.

Is your water softener’s salt level on your monthly home-care checklist? A quick look in the brine tank can help you catch low salt before it becomes a problem. Refill when the salt drops below about half full, and use the salt recommended for your unit.

If your water feels harder than usual, the unit stops regenerating, or you notice standing water in the brine tank, have a licensed plumber check it rather than trying to fix a salt bridge yourself.

A little plumbing poetry for your day, three haikus for life with your pipes:

A drip in the night
Sounds much louder at midnight
Than it does at noon.

You jiggled it once
The toilet jiggled you back
Respect the handle.

The plunger and I
Have an understanding now:
We don’t speak of it.

We’re locally owned and operated since May 2009, licensed and insured, and always happy to hear your best plumbing haiku in the comments! If your pipes need a hand, we’re available 8 AM–8 PM, Monday through Saturday. We’re closed Sundays.

The little rubber duck has vanished… and suddenly everyone’s looking at the toddler. That innocent “it wasn’t me” face gets us every time. 😉

If a toy goes missing near a toilet or drain, skip repeated flushing: it can wedge the toy deeper. Turn off the water supply to that fixture and call a licensed plumber. A plumber can often retrieve it without damage.

Repair or replace an aging toilet? A few signs can help you decide.

If the same toilet needs repeated repairs, its internal parts are worn, or it rocks at the base, it may be time for a closer look. A rocking toilet can also point to an issue with the seal or floor. If the tank or bowl is cracked, replacement is the right choice, not a repair.

Very old toilets may also use more water per flush than many newer models, which are generally designed to use less.

A licensed plumber can check the toilet, seal, and surrounding floor, identify the right parts, and give you written options for repair or replacement before any work begins. Plunge Plus Plumbing has been locally owned and operated since May 2009. We’re licensed and insured, arrive on time, and work to get it right the first time, with transparent written pricing and a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

We’re available 8 AM–8 PM, Monday through Saturday, and closed Sundays.

Slow bathroom drains often start with hair and soap residue. A simple mesh strainer or hair catcher in your shower and bathroom sink can catch hair before it heads down the pipe. Empty it regularly, and occasionally lift and rinse your sink’s pop-up stopper: hair and gunk can collect there, too.

Skip chemical drain openers and don’t take the pipes apart. If a drain is already running slow, a licensed plumber can clear it properly. Plunge Plus Plumbing has been locally owned and operated since 2009. We’re licensed and insured, with transparent written pricing.
