When we went out first it was just sprinkling, then the tornado sirens went off and of course freaked the kids out. All turned out to be by us is some scary lookin clouds and rain for puddle splashing while we got some ice cream.

Boogy Boarding in the creek! Much more relaxed than taking them to the river, even though we love the Eel just as much, going to the creek we witnessed a baby fawn cross the water (which is the same one apparently the kids saw a few days prior), and lots of pretty little bugs. ☺️

Not a professional shot but here's a giant woodpecker friend that visited yesterday (along with a golden tortoise beetle that landed on my leg). A small sparrow on the ground for size comparison, it was huge!

What did we do on our last day of school? Went to play in Eel River of course, and may or may not of (suprisingly) caught a baby northern water snake. 🫣😳
Jackson has been wanting a snake since his 7th birthday and the answer was always no... until yesterday. We set up a terrarium with water basins almost taking up the whole tank, and will feed it little fishies from the river and worms caught from the garden.
