Getting quotes for a painting project?

Before you pick a contractor, ask these 5 questions. They will save you time, money, and a lot of headaches.

âś… Have they handled projects your size before?
âś… How do they prep the surface first?
âś… How do they protect your property while they work?
âś… Can they work around your schedule?
âś… Do they stand behind the work with a real warranty?

A good contractor will have clear answers to all five. If they hesitate, that tells you something too.

We put together a quick guide walking through each one. Swipe through and save it for later!

Before the lift moves. Before the first can of paint opens. There's this quiet moment.

A crew member walking the site alone, vest on, checking everything twice.

Nobody's watching yet. But he checks anyway.

That's the part of the job most people never see. And it's the part that matters most.

Here's something you might not think about. New siding has to match old siding exactly, or you'll see the seam forever.

That's the challenge at 1603 Oakridge. Part of the building got new lapped siding, and it had to match the existing panels perfectly. Our crew tested the color against the real wall before committing to it.

The timber around the entry and roofline got different treatment altogether. That's re-stained by hand, not sprayed, because wood needs that kind of attention to look right.

Small details, but they're the ones that make a building feel finished instead of patched.

Who is a teacher who made a difference in your life?

Think about that one teacher who went above and beyond.

Maybe they stayed after class to help you understand something. Maybe they believed in you when you didn't believe in yourself. Or maybe they simply made you feel seen.

Now imagine being able to give that teacher something back.

We're looking for a deserving Denver teacher to recognize through our Teacher Nomination program.

The chosen teacher could receive up to $5,000 toward an exterior home paint project, plus a $1,000 home improvement store gift card.

So, if you're thinking of a teacher right now, don't just say, “They deserve it.”

Nominate a teacher who made a difference. Click the link to nominate.

Picture this. A crew member on a ladder, taping off a window one careful strip at a time, while three stories of windows above him still need the same treatment.

That's the scene at Canyon Gate right now.

Nobody's touching a paint roller yet. The whole building gets taped, wrapped, and protected first. Every window frame, every piece of trim that shouldn't get a drop of paint on it.

It's slow. It's not exciting to watch. But it's the reason the finished building looks clean instead of speckled with mistakes.

We'll share more as the crew moves through the rest of the building.

Picture standing in that parking lot, looking at this wall.

That's the moment before any of this repaint work happened. A property manager stood right there and saw paint peeling across the whole building. Not a small patch. The whole thing.

That wall was the first thing every tenant saw walking to their car. The first thing every visitor noticed before they even reached the door.

So, a call got made. Fix it right, not just patch it.

Here's what that decision looks like now.

A new landmark is taking shape in Denver’s Upper Downtown, and Shaker Painting is part of the work happening behind the scenes.

We are currently completing interior painting across the residential units.

For a project of this size, consistency matters. Each unit needs clean walls, sharp edges, and careful work around windows, doors, and other finished areas.

The building may soon change Denver’s skyline. Right now, we are focused on getting every interior space ready for what comes next.

Proud to be part of a project that will soon become one of Denver’s newest high-rise residences.

Washington Park regulars, you have probably walked past this fence line a hundred times without giving it a second thought.

That is about to change. We are getting ready to repaint all 42 fence posts and the gazebo here in the park.

Right now, everything still looks fine from a distance. That is actually the best time to catch it. Wait too long on metal fencing and small cracks turn into rust, and rust turns into a much bigger job.

We will be using a heavy-duty coating built for weather and heavy foot traffic, plus long-lasting caulking on every joint. More updates as the work gets underway.

Most people think a patchy white wall means the painter messed up. We think it means they are doing it right.

Before any color goes on, our crew checks the whole wall for hairline cracks, old repairs, and small scratches. Anything that could crack the paint open again down the road. Then we prime and seal every single spot. That is the white patchwork you see in these photos.

Skip that step and you get a wall that looks perfect for a photo, then starts cracking again before winter even hits.

This is what our crew is doing on a commercial job in Aurora right now. It is not a mistake. It is the whole point.
