The mad farmer has gone to his long restful evening.

Rest in peace Wendell Berry.

From the union of power and money
From the union of power and secrecy,
From the union of government and science,
From the union of government and art,
From the union of science and money,
From the union of genius and war,
From the union of outer space and inner vacuity,
The Mad Farmer walks quietly away.

There is only one of him, but he goes.
He returns to the small country he calls home,
His own nation small enough to walk across.
He goes shadowy into the local woods,
And brightly into the local meadows and croplands.
He goes to the care of neighbors,
He goes into the care of neighbors.
He goes to the potluck supper, a dish
From each house for the hunger of every house.
He goes into the quiet of early mornings
Of days when he is not going anywhere.

Calling his neighbors together in to the sanctity
Of their lives separate and together
In the one life of the commonwealth and home,
In their own nation small enough for a story
Or song to travel across in an hour, he cries:

Come all ye conservatives and liberals
Who want to conserve the good things and be free,
Come away from the merchants of big answers,
Whose hands are metalled with power;
From the union of anywhere and everywhere
By the purchase of everything from everybody at the lowest price
And the sale of anything to anybody at the highest price;
From the union of work and debt, work and despair;
From the wage-slavery of the helplessly well-employed.

From the union of self-gratification and self-annihilation,
Secede into the care for one another
And for the good gifts of Heaven and Earth.

Come into the life of the body, the one body
Granted to you in all the history of time.
Come into the body’s economy, its daily work,
And its replenishment at mealtimes and at night.
Come into the body’s thanksgiving, when it knows
And acknowledges itself a living soul.
Come into the dance of the community, joined
In a circle, hand in hand, the dance of the eternal
Love of women and men for one another
And of neighbors and friends for one another.

Always disappearing, always returning,
Calling his neighbors to return, to think again
Of the care of flocks and herds, of gardens
And fields, of woodlots and forests and the uncut groves,
Calling them separately and together, calling and calling,
He goes forever toward the long restful evening
And the croak of the night heron over the river at dark.

It's hard to make something you love pay the bills, but the plant sales and landscaping really helped keep us a float this summer. I have so much gratitude for anyone who has helped support us. I have nothing but joy from every interaction of folks stopping by to purchase plants from me, I live a dream of flowers and fruit and an endless garden beyond mortal boundaries. You folks make my dreams real and fuel the ever growing chaos of plants I can humbly offer. Thank you, thank you.

I have an abundance or rooted honeyberries( over 75!) elderberries, everbearing strawberries, I could dig rows and rows worth of thornless raspberries, thornless blackberries.

On the free list if anyone is looking for rose of sharon or comfrey, walking onions or chives I'm happy to pass on what I have more than we need

Still rooting still more coming still a Ludacris amount of plants, the zinnias snapdragons and Batchelor buttons are really putting on a show, 2 for 5$ if you want to add some fast color for your beds.

Wishing you the best of the remaining summer, and most grateful for all support past and future.

I'll be reposting my market place listing with a more current inventory and photos.

Happy harvests to all and thanks for the rain too.🍎🐺

The bee balm explodes, humming birds thick in the air bees singing the white stars off the elder flowers, raspberries sweeten the heat... I have a wealth of beauty in my spiral.

But we still could use some help folks. If any of you have the will to plant I will happily load you up with the plants that I love for very reasonable prices. Be it fruit or flower or medicine or just a Prickly pear I like to think I have something for everyone.

Honeyberries are rooting and I can barely keep up with the potting up, small they are but the force runs strong in these and will yield well with little care for years to come.

Zinnias are already bringing in beautiful cut flowers, plenty left to share.

Tons of ornamental willows, yellow twig dogwoods, p***y willows, spirea, beebalm.

I'm so grateful for everything everyone has ever bought or empty pot I've been given the opportunity to fill. My family is struggling with those hard bills, hard choices, shut off dates and vampiric late fees. Any help purchase help keeps this rickety raft a float, and me putting myself to task of putting more trees plants out unto this world.

Also reach out if you need help weeding, gardening, summer pruning/ thinning fruit trees, or planting out anything I have to offer here.

My Gratitude and love to you all
Plant people are da best best peoples, next to dogs of course.🍎🐺

Please come buy the plants, I have no table space. The honeyberries and all the fun stuff is rooting, you know me I love the fruiting plant friends just a little more, I love colors and the bees they bring in but somebody save me from all these flowers please... I have planted and stuffed zinnias far and wide, but still the table overflows, benaris giant, Oklahoma mix, and queenie... rainbows inbound.

Many perennial flowers too, I'll post a link to the latest post on market place.

I will try to post some propagation videos next week if I can recruit my son to play camera man. I'm having too much fun not to share, failures and successes aside. Enough successes where more empty spots need to be made on the table. About 40 plus cute as boots little honeyberries so far mostly tundra and berry blu but a few others.

I'll be home having a plant sale Saturday 6/27 from 9am to 5pm.

Belated happy summer solstice all and happy fathers day too, hope all you plant parents and green souls are prospering in the humid gates of summer, my best wishes always.🍎🐺

Fun til it hurts🍎🐺 and loving every sweating minute. I've stuck hundreds of cuttings in the last two days honey berries mulberries lilacs and nanking cherries. My life is a constant marathon watering and scrounging soil to keep everyone one from from drying out or the dreaded root bound fate of all small pots.

I have a Mongolian hoarde of zinnias

black magic bachelor buttons bumping into bigger pots.

Calendula and kale also

The successful honey berries are getting potted up today. Give me a little more time to bolster their spirits.

Home today if anyone wants to buy a few things and clear some space. Seriously a lot of zinnias😳

I'll link my latest market place post in comments.

Blessings Bees Flowers and sweet sweet Fruit and a goodly tolerance for heat stress to you all. stay hydrated my friends.

Now if you'll forgive me I have words to write, they are always lurking, even if though I spend more time with mud than ink these days, I am at root a creature of words. I once strove to make my words live in poetry, when I was younger and the shadow of that remains. Anyway I live an inspired life of paradoxes, I contradict myself as Whitman did, and welcome the fact I contain multitudes, find infinite wisdom in the smallest leaf... and yet same as Jon Snow I still no nothing.

But will tell you there is still wildness here,
In my humble nursery, the gardens and interactions bargain between me and the soil and all the elements. The sweetness of berries, summers essences distilled in the songs with wings.

I tell you it's hard.
That I give up and despair
Doubt all of it.
Curse my plants and my inability,
To keep it all alive, make it thrive,
To find homes for all the green children I have so thoughtlessly brought into world.

The truth is I am always rotting,
As much as i am rooting.
I am a broken thing, rebroken frequently.
That is the essential race when rooting cuttings,
Rooting and rotting, I honestly don't know why it works when it does, sure I try to get better at it and repeat what seemed to work before for myself and others. Rooting and rotting that's life.

I try to anchor myself in the will of life, the force that drives the green fuse of a flower stem, raising my son, loving my family, and finding meaning in all the parts of my journey. Some of you know and cultivate similar dreams. Do any of ever wonder if your nervous system hasn't been taken over by the drive of another species? Like the fungus that takes over an ant and enslaves its nervous system to propagate that more of the same fungi... sometimes it feels like that a little. These last years I've given my life to plants of all types and made it my mission to make more of them. I regret nothing, only that I didn't start sooner.

Yet it's killing and culling too, that grand satisfaction of tugging the rhysome of some stubborn grass that was choking something I loved. I have murdered so much, with a hoe and these hands. There will always be a part of me that marks this hubris with guilt being unworthy of judgment. Still bittersweet roots orange red call me, garlic mustards white flowers make my hands immediately become murderous.

Surely you know the zen joy of timing a transplant perfectly, when the seedling comes out just so, filled out but not root bound, hungry for new soil and a bigger place to grow. Space and time my needy children flood my driveway and mind. So I wake and stick more cuttings in the wee hours and lie awake well past midnight giddy for that which consumes and inspires me in the springtime.

I need to share more of this strange life I've created for myself, my mind chatters endlessly though the words often drift away through the sweat and fury of my days. It will always be circles, ripples and spirals, I hope you don't mind me tossing pebbles in the pond.

Anyway thanks for reading, thanks for being, I am grateful that you are here, keep growing, I'm rooting for you all.🍎🐺

I fought the bamboo yesterday in the rain, it was epic, i mean Lt Dan in the storm s**t.... Gandalf denying passage🍎🐺 In its destruction many perrenials were uprooted, more to repot. I might try to grow some in pots... I wanted canes but rabbits gnaw them down before I get usable ones, and the green monster spreads.

Beware what you unleash and where.
