Japanese Beetles Are Back. Is Your Landscape Protected?

If you've noticed leaves that look like they've been turned into lace, Japanese beetles may already be feeding on your trees, shrubs, and ornamentals.

How to Identify Japanese Beetles
- Metallic green head and body
- Copper-colored wing covers
- About ½ inch long
- Often found in large groups feeding on plants

Common Signs of Damage
- Skeletonized leaves (veins remain, tissue is eaten away)
- Heavy feeding on roses, linden trees, grapes, crabapples, and many ornamental plants
- Stressed plants that become more susceptible to disease and environmental stress

What Can Be Done?
Early treatment is key. Depending on the severity and timing, management options may include:
✔️ Foliar applications to reduce active feeding
✔️ Monitoring and targeted treatment programs
✔️ Preventative grub management to help reduce future populations

Two pests. Two targets. One critical window to act.
As we move into summer, bagworms and armyworms become some of the most destructive threats to your trees and turf. Oftentimes, they aren’t spotted until it's too late.

Bagworms silently defoliate trees and shrubs, hanging in spindle-shaped silk-and-twig "bags" from branches. Left untreated, they can kill conifers in as little as 2 years. Arborvitae, juniper, oak, and maple are especially at risk.

Armyworms work fast, stripping grass blades and turning lawns brown seemingly overnight. Bermuda, fescue, and ryegrass are prime targets. Check your turf at dawn or dusk, or by torchlight, to catch them in action.

Early treatment is the key to saving your trees and lawn. If you're seeing signs of either pest, don't wait.
