Sometimes the prep work becomes a whole project of its own!

We came into this job with the dirt already on-site, but before we could even begin what we were actually there to do, it needed some attention.

The pile had large clumps and quite a bit of debris mixed throughout, so we spent an extra hour and a half sifting, breaking everything apart, removing what didn't belong, and getting the dirt properly spread and leveled. 💪

Once we had a good foundation to work with, the rest MOVED! 🙌

Sometimes you have to work with what you're given, adjust the plan, and put in a little extra effort to make sure the finished product is done right.

The prep may have taken longer than expected, but once it was ready, we rocked out the rest in no time flat! Now comes the fun part — watching that grass come in. 🌱💚

When we say Fisher Services Plus does a little bit of everything… we apparently mean everything. 😂

Go ahead and add HAULING A SHED to the ever-growing list of things we’ve been asked to do — and said, “Yep, we can do that!” 💪

One thing about us: we’re going to figure out how to get the job done.

Mid-August to mid-September is the best time to establish a new lawn or renovate a thin lawn.

This is because the cool-season grasses typically used in Iowa will germinate quickly in the warm soil of late summer, and the warm fall days and cool nights promote rapid turf growth. Also, fewer w**d species germinate in the fall, so there is little w**d competition.

We have had a few customers sell homes which is leading to a couple openings in our mowing route! It’s a rare opening so message to get on our customer list as I don’t foresee an opening in the new future!

Several rounds of thunderstorms are expected Thursday into Friday, and some communities could see torrential rainfall, localized flash flooding, and ponding on roads if storms repeatedly move over the same areas.

While a few strong storms with damaging winds are possible, flash flooding may become the more widespread impact. The exact corridor of the heaviest rain is still being refined, but confidence continues to increase that much of Iowa will receive beneficial—and in some cases excessive—rainfall.

I’m excited to share that I’ve officially completed the Master Conservationist Program!

I’ll be honest… the timing wasn’t ideal. But I made the commitment, stayed the course, and got it done.

While this was something I wanted to accomplish personally, it also strengthens what we do at Fisher Services Plus. The more knowledge we have, the better equipped we are to serve our customers, make thoughtful recommendations, and care for the properties entrusted to us.

I firmly believe that learning should never stop. Every class, every experience, and every challenge makes us better—not only as business owners, but as members of our community.

Here’s to continuing to grow, one step at a time. 🌱

💧 Water has definitely been the topic of conversation lately.

Whether it’s the amount of rainfall we’ve been receiving or the quality of water we are drinking, one thing is certain—we’ve had no shortage of water.

Recently, Tanner was called out to help a homeowner who had been battling water in their basement for nearly 10 years. After evaluating the situation, he discovered the sump pump discharge didn’t have the proper elevation, preventing it from draining efficiently.

With a few adjustments, the system was finally able to do what it was designed to do. It ran continuously for about five minutes, clearing out years of excess water and getting everything flowing properly again.

I’d call that a win. 👏

Sometimes the solution isn’t replacing everything—it’s finding the root of the problem and making the right correction.
