Dustin's Woodshop

Dustin's Woodshop Welcome to Dustin's Woodshop, Your go-to Local Stop for Custom Cabinetry and Furniture! Since then, I have done a ton to the shop. Thank you for your time!

I started doing woodworking growing up as a kid, and always enjoyed building things for others rather than myself. I took shop all throughout middle and some of high school, and really enjoyed developing my craft. I then went to College, and started working shortly there after for a video and scoreboard company. I was away from woodworking for roughly 8 years, but during that time I always wanted

to get back into it. Fast forward to 2010 when I met my now wife Lara and future father in law Dale, and it happened... My love for woodworking came back to me. Her father had his own woodshop, (you'll see it from time to time when myself or my son Kaleb are over helping him with a project,) and him and I built quite a few projects together. Fast forward to 2016, and that's where Dustin's Woodshop journey truly began... We found our dream home, and everything happened so fast the next thing I know I'm unboxing my tools and my small collection of wood working tools into my brand new 28 X 26 woodshop at our new home! Take a look at the photos, and you can see the changes I have made this last year. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or if you are looking to have something built and you're in need of an estimate, give me a call/text or send me a message here, and let's see what we can do!

I decided to setup a quick paintbooth and paint the front of the drawers... 2 coats later and bam, installed and ready to go!

This part of the build is a wrap... Wonder what we come up with next to add to it???

Alright, it's time for an update!! We have been pretty busy the last couple of weeks, and today, we officially installed the night stand, bookcase and dresser. We still have a few more coats of paint to put on the drawer fronts, but once those are done we will install them along with the handles.

I'm super proud of how far this kiddo has come during this build, he's already taking measurements for the next part of the build and trying to come up with a design!!

What do you think? Last photos are where we left off today.

It's been a little while since I posted an update, sorry about that! Life hit us with a few unforeseen circumstances, but we powered through them.

We paused on the nightstand/bookcase so we could focus our attention on his hugeee dresser, plus this way we can paint and finish both at the same time. We officially have all the drawers dovetailed and glued, and finished building the drawer fronts today. We still have a bit more before we can start staining and painting, but we are getting closer!

I'm really enjoying the quality time Kaleb and I are spending together, along with teaching him as we go!

Soooo today we decided we'd continue the buildout. We debated how we wanting to do the drawers, quickly with pocket holes, or make it a nicer piece of furniture and do dovetails... We decided on dovetails.

Kaleb is gaining more confidence and self control with power tools, including for the first time today, he used the miter saw after figuring out the measurement needed, marking it himself and then cutting them. I'm really proud of this boy today, and thought we'd share the update and photos with you all!

Andddd drum roll please.... The color he picked is... Navy blue!!

We were able to get 2 nice coats of paint on it today, and then we got a wild hair and decided if we were careful, we'd go ahead and install it tonight.

Of course dad forgot to install the gold handles after we put the entire bed together, butttt that's okay. He learned how to not only put the bed together, but also apart and back together again!

We are both really happy with how this turned out, wait until you see step 2 of this one! I'm going to guess there's at least 5, maybe 6 more steps before we can say we are done done.

I loved building this with Kaleb, it tested his skills, dad's patient at times but letting him struggle some to figure it out is all part of the process. Let us know what you think!

OH and Kaleb's favorite part... All the extra room he now has when the bed is put away for activities he says!! 🤣 🤣 🤣

Wowsers... Day 2 is a wrap. We managed to get everything built and ready to be installed. There's a slight chance we install tomorrow, we will see how things go.

We had so much fun together today, messed up a couple times but we worked together to find solutions. He's really starting to understand measure twice, cut once! 🤣

Day one is officially in the books! Kaleb has been asking me to help him build a new murphy bed for his bedroom, as he's getting a little too big/tall for his loft bed.

We spent a few months designing and deciding if we wanted to do the hardware ourselves or purchase a kit(we went with a create a bed kit) , and after putting it off, this week is officially the start!

I'm pretty excited to build this together, as he's now old enough to really start teaching him more about proper techniques, shop and tool safety, and more!
