"Today marks a significant milestone as I formally begin training Levi Schumacher, my chosen apprentice. This day isn't just a start; it's an immersion into the profound traditions of our trade, echoing the ancient guilds where mastery was passed down through generations of dedicated mentorship. Levi will embark on a journey far exceeding the technical skills of plumbing. He will learn the weight of responsibility, the power of disciplined habits, and the true essence of leadership – principles instilled in me by my own master.
As with the apprentices of old, Levi will share in the duties of my household, not as mere chores, but as lessons in service, humility, and the understanding that a leader must first learn to serve. He will cultivate ethics, discipline, and positive habits, shaping himself into an example worthy of emulation.
My role extends beyond instructor; I am tasked with refining my own character, striving to be the best possible role model for Levi. I believe he possesses the potential to not only become an exceptional leader of men but also to inspire my own growth.
In the spirit of the guilds, leadership is earned through example. The men and women who will one day follow Levi will be guided by the standards he sets, beginning today. It is an honor to share my knowledge and experience with such a promising individual.
Levi’s journey begins now, and I am committed to shaping him into the best gentleman and scholar he can be. I accept the great responsibility he has entrusted to me with excitement and gratitude. It is indeed a privilege to have been chosen.
Today's lesson, echoing the words of my own master, will be: 'Be careful what you ask for, kid, you just might get it!' For Levi, this means understanding the commitment he has undertaken.
As we move forward, my expectations for our team at Schumacher Group remain steadfast: Strive for excellence, lead by example, and remember always: We are Iowa’s finest plumbers. Let’s go!"
- Nathan W. Schumacher, Master Plumber
