In garden zone 6b, you’ll want to start certain vegetables indoors 4 to 8 weeks before your last frost date (which is typically around mid-April to early May, depending on your location). Here are some vegetables that should be started indoors within this timeframe:

8 Weeks Before Last Frost
• Onions (from seed)
• Leeks
• Brussels Sprouts
• Celery
• Cabbage

6-8 Weeks Before Last Frost
• Broccoli
• Cauliflower
• Eggplant
• Peppers (bell, hot, etc.)
• Parsley

4-6 Weeks Before Last Frost
• Tomatoes
• Kale
• Swiss Chard
• Lettuce
• Spinach
