On June 1, Motor City Electric Co. joined Walbridge, project partners, and state leaders for the groundbreaking of the data center campus known as "The Barn" in Saline Township, a $16 billion development and the largest economic investment in Michigan's history.

Developed for Oracle and OpenAI, The Barn is expected to become the largest data center in Michigan and one of the most significant technology infrastructure projects in the country. Motor City Electric Co. is honored to be a key trade partner on this landmark development, contributing to a project that will advance innovation and artificial intelligence.

For nearly 75 years, Motor City Electric Co. has delivered some of Michigan's most important projects. Being part of The Barn continues that tradition and marks the largest project in the company's history.

Representing MCE at the groundbreaking were CEO Dale Wieczorek and Executive Vice President of Operations Pat McCloskey.

We're proud to be part of The Barn and look forward to building the next chapter of Michigan's future.

Last Thursday was Bring Your Kid to Work Day at Motor City Electric Co., and this year had a pretty cool theme!

With us taking part in the 100th America’s Thanksgiving Parade this November, and our 75th anniversary coming up in 2027, we gave the kids a behind-the-scenes look at all things parade.

We kicked things off with breakfast and a look at how our Utilities team supports the big day, removing and rehanging traffic lights along Woodward Ave. after Santa rolls through. The kids even tried lifting one themselves!

Then we headed to The Parade Company, where we learned about parade history and watched artists bring floats and costumes to life.

There were photos taken with Clownie, time spent exploring the incredible parade floats, including one built by the Amish, and a hands-on activity where the kids made their own mini floats.

Safe to say it was a packed day, and a great way to celebrate a Detroit tradition we’re proud to be part of!

A huge thank you to Kelly White for putting all of this together, along with Gaby Hughes, Karleigh Mistretta, and Maddy Mitchell for helping make the day such a success, and a special thank you to Ron Krajenke, Robert Beecherl, Dave Parski, Dan Parski, Tyler Burhans, and Nick Nomura for sharing their work and giving the kids such a hands-on experience.

We’d also like to thank The Parade Company for hosting us and making the day so memorable for our team and their families!

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of hosting representatives from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Covenant House Michigan, Capuchin Soup Kitchen, Michigan Veterans Foundation, and the American Diabetes Assoc. - Upper Midwest.

Each organization shared how they support children and families, provide shelter and meals, assist veterans, and advance education, research, and care in our communities.

Hearing about their impact made our Christmas donations even more meaningful. Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit and share their stories, and to our employees whose generosity help support these incredible organizations and the people they serve!
