The federal government has stopped all rental assistance for permanent housing. No more permanent housing rental assistance means that if it's not a rapid rehousing program or transitional housing, there's only rental assistance available for those programs. If you are a person with a Housing Choice Voucher or Section 8, or live in a site-based unit, there's rental assistance only for those programs. There is no rental assistance for permanent housing being provided on a federal level with federal dollars. It's a lot to unpack, but Supportive Housing for people struggling with drug addiction will be affected, the LGBTQ community will be affected, and so many people are going to be affected by these federal cuts. The city of Detroit is definitely going to be affected. We'll do a more detailed breakdown later on how it will impact the community. See less
