Last week, we were proud to participate in the 13th annual GM Cares Week throughout Southwest Detroit.

Working alongside volunteers from General Motors , our team spent several days giving back to the community through projects and service opportunities at Cadillac Urban Gardens on Merritt, Holy Redeemer Catholic School, and with Metro Food Rescue .

We always look forward to this opportunity to come together with our partners to make a meaningful impact in the community we call home. Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's GM Cares Week a success!

As a proud member of the Southwest Detroit community and one of the first students to participate in Detroit Cristo Rey’s work-study partnership with Ideal, Osmara has spent more than a decade helping create meaningful opportunities for the community she calls home. Today, she leads many of our outreach efforts, building strong relationships with local partners and helping advance initiatives that make a lasting impact.

Detroit Cristo Rey High School recently held its 2026 Draft Day, where sponsors of the school’s work-study program gather to announce which seniors will be working with their organizations during the school year.

It is always a joy to see the excitement on students’ faces as they return to school and learn what the year ahead holds. Ideal is proud to welcome two students from the Class of 2027, Jose Orozco and Andrea Acevedo, to our team.

Congratulations to all the students and work-study partners on the start of a new school year. We wish everyone a successful, rewarding, and memorable year ahead!
