🍂 Your Michigan home’s fall maintenance checklist!

Before the snow and freezing temperatures arrive, a little fall prep can save you from some big (and expensive) headaches later.

Here are a few things to tackle this season:

🏠 Clean your gutters— Remove leaves and debris so water can drain properly and doesn’t back up or freeze.

💧 Check downspouts— Make sure they’re directing water several feet away from your foundation.

🌳 Trim trees & branches— Remove dead or overhanging branches that could become a problem once we get heavy snow and ice.

🪟 Check windows & doors— Look for drafts, damaged seals, or gaps around frames and weatherstripping.

🚰 Disconnect garden hoses— Drain and store hoses before freezing temperatures to help protect your exterior faucets and plumbing.

🔥 Schedule your furnace tune-up— It’s better to find an issue before you need your heat running 24/7.

🧱 Inspect your foundation— Look for new cracks, moisture, or areas where water may be collecting near the house.

🌬️ Check your attic ventilation— Proper ventilation and insulation can help prevent moisture and ice-dam problems during a Michigan winter.

🍁 Clean up around your home— Keep leaves and debris away from siding, foundation walls, window wells, and drainage areas.

🛠️ Take care of the small stuff now. That loose gutter, cracked caulk, or minor leak can become a much bigger project once Michigan winter hits.
