Once the climber is high enough to remove the apex, he meticulously makes his cuts to fell the top where he sees fit and safe. To ensure a low/no impact top removal the team may opt to rig the apex down with special ropes and mechanical devices that add or reduce rope frictions and tensions for a gentle and precise drop.
