BIDS:
Based on T&M (time & material). If I think it's going to take 4 hours, I'm Bidding for 7 hours to accommodate for the unknown difficulties that often arise. Many jobs don't go as planned.

Discounted Bids are for multiple days of work, or for 20+ outlets. I do not give my lower outlet Bid for a small handful of new outlets. For bigger projects, I do discount my labor rate.

T&M:
95% of the time, is cheaper than my Bids. But some folk need a known budget. So no problem if wanting a Bid. I still have to accommodate for the "unknowns" on a hard Bid.

I cannot Bid a bunch of miscellaneous items & troubleshooting; like many extensive home inspection reports. These types of jobs must be T&M at least to knock out the easier items, then I can Bid or Guesstimate anything remaining.

Guesstimates:
I'll give you a high & low price to give you an idea of what T&M may cost. You must choose either a Bid or T&M.

My hourly rate only leaves me a little per hour after labor cost to cover ALL my business & personal expenses.
Like unbillable time for my crew; for unpaid job assessments, free bids, driving between jobs, downtime, warranty work I can't bill for, & the occasional PR Service Call I don't charge for... that's all just additional labor cost to me.

As a 4 man crew, we get a lot done in a shorter time, than hiring some random company sending you 2 inexperienced guys taking 3 times longer for shoddy work and less production, while the Master sits behind an office desk.
So even though my hourly rates may be a little higher than some, as a Master on every job, my bill ends up cheaper because we finish faster, plus you get more for your buck, and an excellent quality installation.

And all my local inspectors love our work... making inspections go smoothly.

After 4 years of no increase...
* New Rates:

Galveston County & nearby Residential:
$190 a Service Call, then $95/ ½hr, includes me as a Master, & often times my Journeyman &or 1 or 2 apprentices.
I don't charge more or less whether I show up alone, or as a 4 man crew.
Bids free with nothing but "pen & paper" & 1 hour. If I need tools, or it's more than an hour, then it's a Service Call.

Pre scheduled weekends:
$200 for Bids &or Service Calls.

Commercial:
$200 a Service Call, & per hour after the 1st hour.

West of Seawall & between 35 & 288:
$220 a Service Call, & per hour after the 1st hour.

West of 288 &or north of Beltway 8:
$260 a Service Call, & per hour after the 1st hour.

Emergency Service Calls:
$300/hr, time starts when I leave wherever I am to head your way. No half hour incriminates.
Includes: Nights (after 5:pm), non pre scheduled weekends, &or having to leave the job I'm on.

"Out of Town":
$200 per hour if the drivetime is more than 1 hour, with a $300/hr, 4 hour minimum that includes upto 4 hours of labor. That's $1,400 minimum if over an hour away.

Payment due upon Services.
Request half up front for jobs at $1,000 or more.

Over 3 years without a price increase. Just clarifying prices.

Service Calls in Galveston County, south of Beltway 8, & east of 35 is $170 per hour for me, &or my 2 other crew guys. I do not charge more or less with or without my crew. Bid are free upto 3 without a contract. No added trip charges.

West of Seawall, and west of 35 to 288 is $200 per hour. North of Beltway 8 is $250 per hour. Bid fees are the same as a Service Call. No added trip charges within a one hour drivetime.

An hour drive or more incurrs an added trip fee of $200 per hour before labor starts. Out-of-town rates are $300 per hour with a 4 hour minimum that includes upto 4 included hours of labor. Bids and chasing material are counted against my labor fees.
Emergency Service Calls not prescheduled are $300 per hour. Includes nights, weekends, & having to pack up from a scheduled job to come. Time starts when I leave my location to head that way.
