Most people think caulking a log home is cosmetic.It’s not.

It’s one of the MOST important waterproofing systems on a log cabin.

Those cracks in the face of the logs? They’re called checks.And they LOVE trapping water.

Then winter comes.That water freezes, expands, and splits the log even wider.Year after year, the cycle continues.

Most checks go all the way to the interior of the home, creating the perfect highway for bugs, mice, moisture, and drafts.

And yes… even the downward-facing checks matter.Those are the ones almost everyone skips.

Months and months of prep work lead up to this stage right here 😍

We officially started c***king and caulking this cabin, and it feels so good watching everything finally start coming together. I’m sealing all the checks and log ends while David is running fresh c***king lines throughout the cabin.

This is the phase where the restoration really starts to transform visually, and we’re honestly so grateful to do what we do. Protecting these beautiful log homes and bringing them back to life never gets old ✨🪵

Today’s workout program included:

25 gallons of water 💦
4 buckets of c***king 🪣
2 buckets of caulking 🪵
Chinking guns
Tools
Ladders
Extension cords
Random things we forgot downstairs the first trip 😂
AND 6 flights of stairs. 💪🏽

Who needs CrossFit when you restore log homes for a living? 😎

At this point we’re basically highly trained pack mules with c***king and caulking guns. 🐐😂

Legs shaking
Back cracking
Lungs burning
Knees negotiating peace treaties…

But the cabin isn’t gonna c***k itself. 🔥🪵

Taking a trip down memory lane on this one 🤎🏡

6 years ago, we stepped into this home and it told a very different story…

There was a literal blanket of flies covering the circular window
Logs were rough, neglected, and full of places for bugs and critters to call home

Fast forward to today…
This interior has held up beautifully

Smooth, sealed, and protected
No snags on nice blouses
No unwanted guests in the walls
Just a clean, healthy, and comfortable space to live in

One of her favorite parts…

Monday be Monday-ing… 🌲😂

When you live out on the ranch with a one way in, one way out road…
and of course the trees decide to come down right across it

And of course… your chainsaw is sitting at the job site 🙃

So now you’re just… stuck.
Waiting on backup like it’s a full blown emergency response team
for a couple stubborn trees 😂

Ranch life isn’t for the weak
It’s for the “guess we’ll sit here until someone brings a saw” kind of people

Stain day hits different

This part… it’s therapy

Months of prep go into a home like this
Grinding
Sanding
Repairs
Cleaning… over and over again

Out of sight… and still holding strong

These walls have been protected from sun and weather their entire life
And it shows

The previous stain is still in great shape
Just buried under years of dirt and buildup

So we gave every log and every c***king line a full wash and scrub
Bringing it back to life without needing a full strip

Now the surface is clean
Sound
And ready

Caulking touch-ups
Chinking refresh
And a fresh clearcoat to lock it all in
