What’s up, HomeHero fam?

We’re officially on tornado round… two, three, four, five? I’ve lost count at this point.

We’re seeing 60–80 MPH winds across the western suburbs, DuPage County, and Cook County.

First and foremost: stay safe. Get inside, get to the basement, and protect your family. That’s exactly where I am with mine right now.

Once the storm passes, if you notice a roof leak, missing shingles, wind damage, or anything that doesn’t look right, give HomeHero Roofing a call. We’re local, and we’re here to help.

And one important warning: storm chasers are going to be coming into our neighborhoods.

Do your research. Know who you’re dealing with. Check their reviews. Make sure they’re actually local. And don’t let anyone pressure you into signing something on the spot.

HomeHero Roofing is right here in the community, and we’ll be here long after the storm is gone.

Stay safe, everyone. And if you need us, give HomeHero a call. We’ve got you. 🏠⛈️

As you may have heard already, HomeHero Roofing now has two offices.

Our new La Grange office at 14 W Burlington Ave is open, verified on Google, and covering the west Cook suburbs with its own dedicated crew and a 24-hour line at (708) 412-7922. Our Downers Grove headquarters keeps serving the DuPage side, same as always.

Here is what a second office means for you:

More crews and more resources across the western suburbs. More options when an emergency leak can't wait, day or night. More flexibility to get your inspection or project scheduled fast.

Each office has its own team, its own phone, and its own territory. And when a storm rolls through or schedules fill up, they back each other up. Two engines instead of one.

We started in 2023 with zero roofs and zero reviews. Today: 390+ projects completed and 5.0 stars from 380+ reviews across 8 platforms. Our goal has not changed since day one: become the Midwest's highest-rated roofing company by being the most honest one. The second office is the next step.

Follow our new La Grange page for west Cook projects and updates: https://www.facebook.com/HomeHeroRoofingLaGrange

Free inspections, same-day or next-day for most of the western suburbs.

Two things happened after the July 27 storm that most people around here have not heard.

First, the National Weather Service finished its damage surveys and raised the confirmed tornado count from two to seven. Three were in DuPage County: Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, and Downers Grove. The Downers Grove tornado was confirmed on July 30, after the weather service initially attributed that damage to straight-line winds. It was an EF-0 with peak winds near 85 mph, tracking about two miles south down Main Street.

Second, Cook County issued a disaster proclamation on July 30, and there is a resident damage survey that closes Wednesday, August 5. The county uses those responses to determine whether our area qualifies for state and federal disaster assistance. It is voluntary, it does not replace your insurance claim, and it does not guarantee you anything. But the count only reflects the people who fill it out. If your roof, gutters, siding, or trees took damage, it takes a few minutes.

We put everything we could verify on one page: hail size town by town with times, all seven tornado paths, our own inspection photos, and the three Illinois laws that protect you before you sign anything with a contractor.

The hail spread is the part worth seeing. Westmont took 2.5 inches at 12:18 PM. Darien took 1 inch at 12:26 PM. Nine miles apart, eight minutes apart. That is why your neighbor saying they were fine tells you almost nothing about your own roof.

Free inspections are running daily. We document everything with photos and give you an honest answer, including when that answer is that your roof is fine. That is how about a third of them end.

Did you hear the tornado sirens today in DuPage and Cook County?

My wife, kids, and I were just in the basement for about 90 minutes while those storms rolled through. We saw heavy rain, strong winds, and hail in parts of the area, and it looks like we could get more weather tonight.

A few quick reminders:

1. Be cautious of storm chasers. Over the next few days, you’ll likely see companies knocking on your door or calling you. Before you sign anything, do your research and make sure you’re working with a reputable local roofing company.
2. If you have a leak, don’t wait. We’re a repair-first company, so if the storm caused a leak, we’ll come out, inspect it, and help stop the damage before it gets worse.
3. Do a quick walk around your home once it’s safe. Look for missing shingles, fallen tree limbs, damaged siding, or anything that looks out of place. Catching damage early can save you a lot of money and headaches.

If you’d like peace of mind, HomeHero Roofing is happy to provide a no-pressure inspection. If there is storm damage, we’ll walk you through the insurance claim process step by step and make sure you’re taken care of.

Most importantly, stay safe tonight. If you need us, we’re here to help.

Tornado Warnings are active for DuPage and Cook Counties right now. Rotation moved through Downers Grove, La Grange, Countryside, and the surrounding suburbs around noon, with sirens, hail, and heavy rain across the area.

If you are in the warning zone, nothing else matters right now. Get to the basement, or an interior room on the lowest floor, away from windows. Put shoes on everyone in the house. Charge your phones and have flashlights ready. Do not go outside to film the sky, and do not try to outrun a storm in your car.

After the warning expires, here is what to do before you call anyone about your roof:

1. Stay off the roof. Wet shingles, debris, and hidden structural damage make it dangerous even for experienced people.
2. Document from the ground. Walk the perimeter and photograph missing shingles, dented gutters, damaged siding, and debris in the yard. If there is hail on the ground, photograph it next to a coin for scale.
3. Check your attic if you can reach it safely. Look for daylight coming through, water stains, or active dripping.
4. Call your insurance company first. Your adjuster will want to see undisturbed damage.
5. Do not sign anything with a contractor who shows up at your door uninvited. Storm chasers follow tornado warnings into neighborhoods. A legitimate roofer will never rush you.

If you find damage or just want a second set of eyes, HomeHero Roofing offers free storm damage inspections with full photo documentation. No deposit or obligation. We also handle emergency tarping if your roof took a hit and rain is still in the forecast.

We're based in Downers Grove and our team lives right here in the western suburbs. We'll be out inspecting roofs as soon as conditions are safe.

Stay safe. We'll be here when it passes.

New roof in the books in Lemont, IL. Full tear-off, new architectural shingles, and a house that looks ten years younger.

Now, a part of this project you cannot see in the photos: the permit. We pull the building permit on every roof we replace, and we close it out with the village inspection when the work is done. From Darien to Downers Grove, Western Springs to Westmont, and now Lemont, each town has its own application, its own fees, and its own inspection process. After 273+ projects across Chicago's western suburbs, our office knows them all, and Gina has most of the building departments on a first-name basis.

Keep in mind, this is one of the easiest ways to tell a local roofer from a storm chaser. Crews that follow the hail leave town before an inspector ever sees their work. A permitted, inspected roof protects you at resale, keeps insurance claims clean, and puts an independent second set of eyes on workmanship you cannot check from the ground.

For the homeowner, the process stayed simple. Approve the itemized estimate, pick the shingle color, and we take it from there. No deposit, pay on completion, and a 10-year transferable workmanship warranty. That is the HomeHero Roofing way, and it is a big part of why we hold 5.0 stars from 370+ reviews across Google, Thumbtack, Yelp, BBB, Facebook, Zillow, and Nextdoor.

Another new roof in the books, this time in Warrenville, just up the road from our Downers Grove headquarters.

This one was more than shingles. Along with the full tear-off and new Owens Corning system, we flashed in a new skylight on the rear slope and installed a complete set of new vents across the ridgelines.

Here's the thing about those vents. An attic that cannot breathe cooks your shingles from underneath in summer and builds the ice dams that wreck gutters in winter. Proper airflow is one of the cheapest ways to add years to a roof, and it is the kind of detail you cannot see from the curb. That is exactly why we photograph and document everything we do up there.

No deposit, itemized estimate, pay on completion, 10-year transferable workmanship warranty. HomeHero Roofing holds 5.0 stars from 370+ reviews across Google, Thumbtack, Yelp, BBB, Facebook, Zillow, and Nextdoor.

If your roof in Warrenville, Naperville, Wheaton, or anywhere in the western suburbs is showing its age, request a free and honest inspection from HomeHero Roofing, the local roofing team you can trust.
