Contemporary fire-rebuilds require careful attention to modern technology, design, and materials. we sheath our fire-rebuilds in High and Very High Fire zones with a cost-efficient fire-rated sub-surface which entirely protects the wood structure. Too many other design-build companies aren’t doing their research and are instead failing to adapt to the changing times. We cannot continue to build with outmoded colonizing styles from histories long since past structured for other climates, conditions, and cultures. Those styles continue to fail us. Their article on the historic rebuilding of 17,000 homes in Los Angeles features SPARCHS’s .0 Butterfly House being constructed in Altadena. The interior of this Case Study 2.0 Altadena Fire Rebuild — The Butterfly House — has an amazingly open interior that lifts towards the stunning surrounding mountain and city views — this is only a 600 sqft ADU — but through the careful design we are able to create incredible expansion and lift with a remarkable casual indoor/outdoor California feel. We love the feel of the roof structure floating in the room!
