FYI- for those interested before they make comments about the page Ballard-Milligan Gravel Corp- Please keep in mind it began in 1910 when my great grandmother then Milligan purchased the land with what they called then the Milligan money, which came from Ireland. My grandmother continued the business and received her trust from Ireland, thus her maiden name MILLIGAN. She later married my grandfat
her Harold Ballard one of the first 1000 pilots in the United States he was number 974 and is in the book called Contact along with many other Aces from that era. . My mother Prudence Ballard then married my father Howard Miller from Ct, who was in the Subs for 26 years- he loved to Man his Subs and was on one of the first Subs that went under the Artic ,before the Nuke subs. In his beginning years of his Naval Service he took the last name of Beasley, as his mother married Mr. Due to the fact that we didn't have the technology that we have now, it made life much easier to send his allotment checks to his mother to assist with the care of his Mother, Brothers and Sisters whom he loved dearly. Thus the Name Ballard-Milligan Gravel Corp a name my mother Prudence Ballard decided upon, in memory of her family. She is still very proud of the name and is happy to be a part of History with the new Richmond - Dresden Bridge that is being built. The current bridge was build in the 1930's after a flood destroyed the earlier bridge and the only way to cross was by boat or eventually ferry. So Prudence Beasley at the age of 91n is a part of history again. I hope the residents are pleased with the work of Reed and Reed, the other Contractors and the local 100 plus year business Ballard-Milligan Gravel Corp.
