Think your cracked pool is beyond repair?
This project involved a four decade old pool with extensive cracking, including a through-and-through crack on one side and numerous fissures across the floor and other walls. When adding staples to the floor cracks, we figured out the existing gunite was only 3-4 inches thick.
We also found several locations along the cracks where the original rebar had rusted out and fractured. Our fix included removing the section with irreparable cracks, reinforcing all other cracks with torqued and tensioned staples, and installing a new rebar mesh across the entire bottom in preparation for a 4-inch gunite overlay.
Following this, remaining deep cracks will receive an epoxy injection for filling, staples will be covered with a hydraulic cement patch, and all cracks and patches will be treated with a crack suppression and waterproofing layer before new plaster is applied. The project is also getting new coping, a new skimmer, light, and pump, and a new deck. These repairs are designed to extend the lifespan of this backyard amenity by over two decades, offering a cost-effective alternative to new pool construction.
