Introducing New-Hewn Timbers!

We're excited to showcase our first project using our innovative technique of creating genuine hand-hewn timbers. They are expertly finished to look far older than what would be expected from their newly milled structural capacity.

We're reminded daily of how special this place is and how grateful we are to live here, so we're dedicated to building the best possible homes for the planet.

We've done this in the past by encouraging our clients to choose better building materials and designing their spaces to be as energy efficient as possible. Going forward, we're stepping up our game even more to ensure that every one of the homes we build, big or small, meets careful criteria for sustainable and earth-friendly building practices.

It's what matters to us in the long run. We'll always build timeless beautiful homes, but not at the cost of our planet.

One from the archives! Building this timberframe and straw bale enclosed home was one of our favorite projects because of the thoughtful design that went into it.

Originally built off-grid it has since been tied to the grid but produces as much power as it consumes for most of the year with PV panels and a wind generator. Copper gutters bring rain water to a large cistern and solar thermal panels heat domestic water and in-floor radiant glycol.

Here it is before we enclosed it with straw bales and plaster.

"Set your sights high" they said.
"Reach for the stars" they said.
"Keep your head up" they said.

Did they mean that literally...?

We love how this sweet living and dining room came together. Natural light, high ceilings, and a vibrant rug make this such an inviting space for both quiet mornings alone, and big gatherings of good friends.

About Teton Timberframe

We are a team of designers, engineers, craftsmen and outdoor enthusiasts. We care about our community, our clients and the ecology of our region. When we’re not pursuing innovative ways to build with heavy timber you can find us hiking, skiing, riding, hunting and fishing in the Teton back-country.

We take a very long view of what we do and build at Teton Timberframe.

  • We design all of our buildings to last for generations.

  • We design them to use renewable energy and as little of that as possible.
