618 Electric was called out to a customer's home for what seemed like a minor electrical issue — but what we found could have turned into a major fire hazard. A burnt GFCI receptacle was discovered during our inspection.

GFCI outlets are designed to protect against electrical shock, especially in areas like kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoors. When they burn or overheat, it usually means something deeper is wrong — like loose wiring, moisture exposure, or an overloaded circuit. In this case it was caused from power washing the home.

We quickly shut off power, removed the damaged receptacle, and replaced it with a properly rated, code-compliant GFCI. We also inspected the circuit to ensure everything else was safe and functioning properly.

If your outlets feel warm to the touch, trip often, or show any discoloration — don’t wait. Give us a call.

A customer reported issues with several non-working receptacles. After thorough troubleshooting, we identified a burnt receptacle as the source of the problem. We replaced the faulty device and restored full functionality to the affected circuits, ensuring safe and reliable power.
