Late summer sometimes brings Columbus the remnants of tropical systems, and they behave differently than a typical afternoon thunderstorm. Instead of a short, hard burst, the rain lingers for a day or more. That kind of sustained rainfall saturates soil in a way a quick downpour doesn't, and a drainage setup built to handle brief bursts can struggle with the longer volume. If your system has only ever been tested by normal summer storms, a longer rain event is a different kind of test. Chapman Drainage can tell you how your setup handles both. 614.273.0429.
