There’s a new place to get moving in Cedar Rapids!

The Prairie Summit YMCA officially opened just last month, and it was great to walk through and see the finished space in action. Pools, a turf field, courts, a fitness floor, a track — this place really does have something for everyone.

Proud of the work our crew did here, and even more excited to see Cedar Rapids put it to use. Congrats to Cedar Rapids/Marion Area YMCA on the new space!

Photos don't do it justice - this generator is massive. 👀

Our team installed it at Cedar Crossing Casino, where we've been on site for over a year now. It's been an amazing project to watch come to life.

The casino is ahead of schedule and opening in mid-November. We can't wait for everyone to enjoy it soon!

💡 Meet Chuck!

Chuck works in Warehouse & Deliveries here and is a CR native. Outside of work, you can usually find him outdoors, gardening, or at a concert. He’s also been to the Grand Canyon, raced soapbox derby cars all the way to nationals in Akron, Ohio, and earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

One of Chuck’s favorite parts about working at Hawkeye Electric is the people and getting to see jobs come together from start to finish. We’re so glad to have you on the team, Chuck!

FLEET SPECIALIST

We're looking for an organized, detail-oriented Fleet Specialist who's ready to keep our company vehicles running safely, efficiently, and in compliance.

What you'll be doing:

Managing daily fleet operations, maintenance, and inspections
Ensuring compliance with DOT, OSHA, state, and federal regulations
Handling vehicle registrations, renewals, and required filings
Overseeing fuel card programs and GPS/trip tracking
Helping reduce costs and improve fleet efficiency

What we're looking for:

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent communication and time management
Someone trustworthy with confidential information
Ability to work independently and adapt as needed
Valid driver's license

Benefits include PTO, paid holidays, health, dental and vision insurance, a retirement plan with company match, and room to grow.

CONTROLLER

We’re looking for an experienced Controller who knows construction and real estate accounting and is ready to take ownership of the numbers.

What you’ll be doing:
• Managing monthly financials, reconciliations, and reporting
• Handling cash flow, forecasting, budgeting, and payroll
• Overseeing job costing, billing, sales tax, and intercompany activity
• Working directly with business owners and internal teams
• Helping improve financial systems and day-to-day operations

What we’re looking for:
• Construction and/or real estate accounting experience
• Knowledge of job costing, vendor billing, purchasing, and construction financing
• Confidence using QuickBooks, Foundation, and other accounting software
• Strong attention to detail and deadline management
• Someone who can work independently and manage multiple priorities

Another local generator install right here in Cedar Rapids.

We supplied and installed this unit for Willis Dady Shelter. For a shelter, backup power isn't a convenience. It means AC in the summer, heat in the winter, and a safe place that stays open no matter what the weather does.

Our generator team has been busy this summer, and the reviews coming in have us feeling grateful. From new Generac installs to service calls across Cedar Rapids and Eastern Iowa, hearing that our customers feel taken care of means everything to us. We take the small jobs as seriously as the big ones.
