I’ve cut quite a few large icicles in my many years of doing ice dams. This one takes the top prize. We estimated it at probably at least 1000 pounds. We cut it in half first diagonally and then cut hundred pound pieces out of it. That might be enough ice to last a lifetime of cocktails. The storm that passed through in the last couple days dumped anywhere from 14 to 20 inches in the Duluth area. A lot of roofs are in need of attention with excess weight on them. We will be getting a warm-up in about a week from now. The ice dams on a lot of people’s houses are going to start causing major problems.
