This was one of those weeks where a lot of different pieces were moving at the same time.

We kicked off production on another Colorado home, welcomed a new intern from Bayfield High School into the shop, and kept pushing forward on our Lewis job.

The team finished sheathing the roof deck, started building out the deck and porches, and worked through the kind of punchlist framing details that help a project keep moving the right way.

I’m grateful for the momentum, but even more grateful for the people behind it — the crew in the shop, the crew on site, and the customers who continue to trust us with their projects.

Before the walls go up, the foundation has to be ready to receive the frame.

One of the first framing steps, on a crawl space foundation, after concrete is ready is sill plate layout and installation. That means cleaning the top of the concrete, checking the foundation dimensions, verifying anchor bolt locations, installing sill sealer, and fastening the treated sill plate dead level.

It may not be the most exciting part of the build, but it matters.

The sill plate is the connection point between the concrete foundation and the wood frame. If it is installed clean, level, and square, the subfloor will be level and the walls will be much easier to plumb.

For owner-builders, this is one of those details that will save time later. If attention to this detail isn't paid upfront, this detail can fight you the rest of the way.

Planning a build in Southwest Colorado or the Four Corners region? We can help you think through the framing process before you get to this stage.

A better frame starts before the lumber is cut.

At Higher Purpose Homes, we take your plans, build a detailed framing model, verify the fitment, and export each piece to our optimized cut station.

Every member is cut with precision and labeled for its place in the panel, helping reduce lumber waste to below 1% and making installation smoother on site.

For homeowners, owner-builders, builders, and developers, that means a more predictable path from plans to framed structure.

Send us your plans and we can help you turn them into a framing package ready for the jobsite.

Integrity shows up in the details.

It’s in the blocking, the roof framing, the layout, the little adjustments, and the work that most people will never see once the house is finished.

We’re thankful for our team members, who keep showing up and doing the work the right way. The big progress matters, but so do the small details that hold it all together.

On 2400sf, from sill plate to roof trusses in 6 days on site.

Our crew installed the sill plate, set the subfloor panels, set the wall panels, and got the roof structure started within the first week.

From here, the remaining framing continues like a traditional build, with our crew completing roof sheathing, truss caps, outlookers, subfascia, decks, and porches on site. The roof will have ice and water shield on it by early next week!

For builders, that means the speed advantage comes where it matters most: getting the main structure up quickly, reducing early schedule risk, and creating momentum toward dry-in.

Weeks like this are a good reminder of why we’re building Higher Purpose Homes the way we are.

There’s nothing easy about construction. Plans change, details matter, weather matters, site conditions matter, and the crew has to keep solving problems in real time.

But when the shop work, planning, delivery, and jobsite install all come together, the progress is pretty incredible to watch.

This week we went from foundation prep to floor panels, crane-set walls, and a first story taking shape. Grateful for the team that made it happen and proud of the work going into this home.

One of our values at Higher Purpose Homes is Community.

That starts with our team.

The way this team works together on site matters. Setting panels, bracing walls, checking details, helping each other through the hard parts — it all adds up to more than just getting a house framed.

We’re building homes for our community, but we’re also building a team that cares about the work and the people around them.

Proud of these guys and everyone else involved.

One of the things I love about building this company is that improvement does not always have to be complicated.

We needed a better way to stage panels in the yard and load them for transport, so we built custom fork extensions. They help us move large framing components more efficiently.

Today’s step was simple: paint them yellow so they’re easier to see and safer for the crew to work around.

That’s the kind of continuous improvement we’re trying to build into Higher Purpose Homes — practical, useful, and focused on making the work better for the people doing it and the customers depending on it.

Better tools. Safer workflow. Smoother projects.

For builders, panelized framing is not just about speed. It is about labor.

Good help is hard to find, and even harder to keep. A lot of builders are also getting to the point where the back-breaking parts of framing are not as appealing as they used to be.

On this project, our crew had the full 1,600 sq. ft. first story framed and plumbed in a single day because the walls were already built in the shop, delivered to site, and set with a crane doing the heavy lifting.

That means less cutting, lifting, carrying, and assembling piece by piece on site — and more progress with the labor you already have.

Faster install. Less wear on the crew. A better way to keep projects moving.

A solid morning on site.

On this project, we set 35 walls in 2 hours 34 minutes and had the first story standing and braced before lunch. Starting from a bare subfloor and saying goodbye to the crane before noon is exactly why we believe in doing the prep work up front.

When the panels are built in the shop and the site is ready, the install goes quickly and the whole job moves more smoothly.

We’ll spend the rest of the day tying in sheathing, plumbing and bracing interior walls, and getting ready for trusses next week.

If you’re planning a home and want help getting from design to framing with fewer surprises, feel free to reach out.
