Pleasant Green Grass has grown “organically” from its local roots to become the region’s largest and longest running organic lawn care company. After graduating from NC State University, Scott studied the science of fertilization, w**d control and the threats regularly used pesticides and other chemicals pose to people, pets and the environment. (Please read "Poison in the grass")Scott moved out
west and trained and worked for four years with an organic lawn care company that helped him combine his study on the science of better, healthier, planet-friendly lawn care with best business practices and knowledge of what customers really want. He created an improved, customized program for organic lawn care that could avoid the conventional hazardous substances, produce better performing lawns and offer services at about the same or lower price than conventional “chemical” lawn companies. After testing the program with strong results and happy customers, Scott returned to the community of Pleasant Green to begin Pleasant Green Grass Lawn Care Referrals from satisfied customers helped grow the Company to one of the largest organic lawn care companies in the state. The Sustainable Ventures Fund of Anka Funds (www.ankafunds.com), an investment firm with a strong environmental ethic, was so impressed by the Company, its culture, the integrity of its management and unusually high quality of services that Anka became a co-owner in Pleasant Green Grass in the hopes of bringing this unique blend of products and services combined with science-based programming to a larger audience. The current use and abuse of synthetic pesticides by the lawn care industry that cause cancer, birth defect and pollute our water ways is alarming and in large unnecessary. The lack of science-based decisions taken by most lawn care programs and lack of knowledge is also problematic. Pleasant Green Grass is a company that has grown the right way, with good, knowledgeable people with integrity who care about the environment and creating healthy ecosystems in our lawns and elsewhere. Pleasant Green Grass was formed to be part of our larger solution.
