Wallace Chambers of A&A Plumbing Co. encounters all types of previous failed repairs to all kinds of plumbing. These photos show a failed replacement of a tub spout. The previous repair was done using, what's called, a sharkbite coupling. Sharkbite couplings have their proper application and this isn't one. It was a time consuming task removing this spout without doing damage to the tub, but A&A Plumbing Co. removed these and properly soldered a copper coupling and pipe to install the new tub spout. The new spout was then caulked and sealed.

Many times A&A Plumbing Co. will encounter homes with water meters that have been covered with mulch or hidden by plants. It is always a good idea to keep these areas clean of debris in case you have a plumbing emergency. Wallace Chambers of A&A Plumbing Co. has discovered many main water cut off valves in houses that will fail to cut the incoming water entirely off. This results in a need for quick access to your water meter. If you have no idea where your water meter is located, call the city to locate it for you.

While you may be tempted to use hot water straight from the faucet for making a hot beverage or cooking, Wallace Chambers of A&A Plumbing Co. would advise against it. The photos show a device called an anode rod which is typically made of soft magnesium and is designed to protect the metal tank from corrosive properties that may be coming from the water. This particular customer's city water was so corrosive, it dissolved the anode rod in 8 years and then ate a hole in the water heater. This fact and the fact that other metals and sediments also collect in the bottom of a water heater, in my opinion, would make the water undesirable for consumption.

Wallace Chambers of A&A Plumbing is called on to fix all types of improper, substandard repairs performed by people that should not be working on plumbing. This customer paid good money for a bathroom floor repair and ceramic tile installation. The goober heads raised the floor almost two inches and left the toilet fl**ge at the original height. The photos show four toilet fl**ge spacers they used to in their failed attempt to repair their goof. When I removed the leaking toilet it exposed the huge hole they left under the toilet. I went to the crawlspace, cut the cast iron drain pipe and installed new PVC pipe. New supports under the floor anchor down the new toilet fl**ge and the void is filled with expanding foam. You can trust A&A Plumbing Co. to do the job right.
