“A beautiful place to relax, entertain, and enjoy every season [that has] added lasting value to our home…“ This is how one Apex family describes an Archadeck project that transformed their underused patio space into a thoughtfully-designed, outdoor oasis they enjoy throughout much more of the year.
The Apex homeowners came to us with a design challenge: they had a paver patio with a pergola that wasn't doing much other than taking up space. Although the pergola looked nice, it offered limited shade and little protection from the elements. Afternoon sun, evening mosquitoes, and heavy spring pollen often made the patio difficult to enjoy.
As our project manager explained, “The homeowners weren't trying to give up their outdoor space; they just wanted it to be usable without the negative components of the harsh sun, bugs, and pollen.” To help them reclaim their space, our team designed an open-gabled three-season porch with a ceiling fan and vinyl porch windows to replace the pergola, directly over the existing patio.
