Did you know that Fairfield was once home to a sheep shearing facility at the mouth of Manning Canyon that once sheared 100,000 sheep each spring. (Though this photo is from Antelope Island Shearing Corals located in Fairfield would have been similar.)
The intermountain Republican shares this story from April 3, 1909.
FIRST CAR OF WOOL LOADED AT FAIRFIELD
A Lee traveling freight agent for the Salt Lake Route with A. S. Erickson representing the Harris Wool company of St. Louis began loading the first car of Utah wool at Fairfield yesterday. This wool was bought by the St. Louis people around 17 cents a pound and the movement begins many weeks earlier this year than In 1907 when the Utah clip went at prices ranging from 10 to 13 cents a pound.
