🫐 Wild blackberries
🍇 Muscadines (starting to develop, with some early varieties ripening soon)
🌰 Black walnuts (still green now, harvest later in the season)
🌿 Plantain (a common edible and medicinal herb)
🌱 Purslane (a nutritious edible “weed” packed with vitamins)
🍄 Wild mushrooms (only forage if you’re 100% certain of identification!)
🌼 Elderberries (berries developing now and ripening later this summer)

⚠️ Always forage responsibly
✔️ Be 100% sure of identification before eating anything.
✔️ Avoid roadsides and areas that may have been sprayed with chemicals.

🌱 The Garden Advice You Didn’t Know You Needed This Summer 🌱

Stop watering your garden every day!

It sounds backward, but deep, less frequent watering encourages roots to grow deeper into the soil, making plants stronger and more drought-tolerant. A good soak a few times a week is usually better than a light sprinkle every day.

Bonus if you add a layer of mulch around your plants to help retain moisture, suppress weeds, and keep roots cooler during those hot summer days. 🌞

🥕 Have you tried making fresh ferments?? Fresh fruit and veggies are the perfect base for a fresh, fizzy ferment! Try this easy carrot ferment to add some beneficial probiotics to your summer crunch😍🥕

4–5 carrots, cut into sticks
2 cups filtered water
1 tablespoon sea salt
Optional: garlic, dill, peppercorns, cinnamon sticks

Dissolve the salt in the water to make a brine.
Pack the carrots tightly into the jar. Add any optional seasonings.
Pour the brine over the carrots until they're completely submerged.
Keep the carrots below the surface of the brine. A fermentation weight helps.
Loosely cover the jar.
Leave at room temperature 5–10 days.
Enjoy!!

✨ Fun Fact: Switching to reusable shopping bags can replace hundreds of plastic bags over its lifetime! 🌎 Less waste, fewer bags in landfills, and one small habit that adds up over time.
